A story for: Remy, Age 4
Created August 12, 2026
Deep, deep down in the shimmering blue ocean, lived a very special whale named Remy. Remy wasn't like other whales who zoomed around, playing tag with the dolphins or splashing with the octopuses. Remy loved to sing.
Remy’s songs weren't loud and boomy. Oh no, Remy’s songs were soft and gentle, like a warm hug or a whisper from the tide. Every evening, as the sun began to dip its toes into the water, painting the sky with colors of pink and orange, Remy would find a quiet spot near a garden of glowing coral.
He would take a deep breath, and then, a beautiful, humming sound would float from his big, kind mouth. It started low, a rumble like a happy purr, and then it would rise, soft and sweet, like a bubble drifting slowly to the surface.
The little fish, who had been darting and giggling all day, would stop their wiggles. The busy crabs, who had been scuttling across the sandy floor, would pause and listen. Even the playful sea turtles, who loved to chase after shiny shells, would slow their swimming and close their eyes a little.
Remy’s song was a lullaby for the ocean. It told tales of sleepy starfish clinging to rocks, of tired anemones swaying gently, and of baby clams tucked safely in their shells. His music was like a soft blanket, covering the whole ocean in peace.
As Remy sang, the water around him seemed to glow even softer. The little fish would find their favorite seaweed beds and snuggle in. The crabs would burrow a little deeper into the sand. The sea turtles would let the currents carry them gently, their flippers hardly moving.
Remy sang until the last ray of sunlight had vanished and the moonbeams began to dance on the water’s surface. His song grew softer and softer, like a whispered secret, until it was just a tiny hum. He felt the whole ocean around him sighing, settling down for a long, peaceful sleep.
Finally, Remy let out a very last, very quiet hum. He looked around at the sleeping ocean, feeling warm and happy. Then, with a gentle swish of his tail, Remy found his own favorite spot amongst the coral. He closed his big, kind eyes, the gentle lullaby still echoing in his heart, and drifted off to sleep himself, dreaming of the peaceful, humming ocean.
