A story for: Remy, Age 4
Created July 17, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy burrow under a sleepy oak tree, lived a little bunny named Remy. Remy wasn't just any bunny; Remy was a brave bunny, with soft, fluffy white fur and big, curious eyes.
Every night, as the sun dipped behind the hills and painted the sky in shades of orange and purple, Remy would get ready for bed. But Remy had a very special job. You see, Remy was the keeper of the Dream Lantern.
The Dream Lantern wasn't like any other lantern. It glowed with a gentle, soft light, not too bright, not too dim. It smelled faintly of warm milk and honey, and inside, tiny specks of starlight danced. This lantern had a magical task: it helped little animals in the forest find their way to happy dreams.
One evening, as the first star twinkled, Remy carefully picked up the Dream Lantern. Its warmth spread through Remy’s paws. Tonight, Remy thought, someone in the forest needs a little extra light for their dreams. Maybe it was the little fox kit who was learning to pounce, or the baby owl who was trying to hoot for the first time.
Remy hopped quietly out of the burrow, the lantern swinging gently, casting soft circles of light on the path. The air was cool and smelled of fresh earth and dew. The crickets sang their nightly lullaby, "Chirp, chirp, sleep, sleep."
Remy walked past the tall, quiet trees, their branches swaying ever so slightly. The Dream Lantern pulsed with a loving glow, sending out tendrils of light that whispered, "Sweet dreams, little ones. Sweet dreams."
As Remy walked, the light from the lantern seemed to settle over the sleeping birds in their nests, over the dozing squirrels curled in their tree holes, and even over the tiny field mice snuggled deep in the grass. Each little creature felt a wave of peace, and their dreams began to bloom – dreams of delicious berries, of gentle breezes, of playing with friends.
After a little while, Remy felt a gentle tug, a sign that the lantern's magic had reached everyone who needed it. With a happy sigh, Remy turned and hopped back towards the cozy burrow. The moon was now high in the sky, a big, friendly smile watching over the world.
Back in the burrow, Remy carefully placed the Dream Lantern on a small, soft mossy bed beside the sleeping nest. Its light continued to glow softly, filling the burrow with a comforting warmth. Remy snuggled down, feeling safe and content.
As Remy closed those big, curious eyes, the last thing Remy saw was the soft, pulsing light of the Dream Lantern. And as Remy drifted off to sleep, Remy knew that tonight, all the little animals in the forest, and Remy too, would have the sweetest, happiest dreams, thanks to the brave little bunny and the magical light of the Dream Lantern.
