Remy and the Moon's Lullaby

A story for: Remy, Age 7

Created October 05, 2026

Once upon a time, high above the whispering treetops and sparkling starlit skies, lived a very special dragon named Remy. Remy wasn't like the dragons you might read about in adventure books. He had scales the color of a soft twilight sky, shimmering with hints of lavender and pale blue, and his breath smelled faintly of warm milk and honey. His favorite thing to do was float gently among the clouds, watching the world prepare for sleep.

Every night, Remy would see the Moon, big and round and bright, smiling down at the Earth. But lately, Remy had noticed something. The Moon looked a little tired. Her light, while still beautiful, seemed to flicker just a tiny bit, as if she was struggling to keep her eyes open.

One evening, Remy gathered all his courage and drifted closer to the Moon. "Hello, dear Moon," he whispered, his voice like the rustle of soft silk. "Are you alright? You seem a little… sleepy."

The Moon let out a gentle sigh, like a soft breeze through an open window. "Oh, Remy," she murmured, her voice a silvery hum. "It's true. I watch over everyone all night long, making sure the stars twinkle and the dreams are sweet. But sometimes, when it's almost morning, I find it hard to drift off to sleep myself. My mind keeps thinking of all the wonderful things I've seen."

Remy's gentle heart felt a pang of sympathy. "Perhaps I can help," he offered, his eyes sparkling with a new idea. "When you feel sleepy, what helps you fall asleep?"

"Well," the Moon pondered, "a quiet song, perhaps? A gentle hum? And a warm, soft blanket would be lovely, but how can a blanket reach all the way up here?"

Remy smiled. "I have just the thing!" He began to hum a tune, a melody so soft and sweet, it sounded like tiny bells tinkling in the distance. As he hummed, he began to breathe very, very gently. From his mouth, instead of fire, came a shimmering, warm mist. It wasn't hot at all; it was like holding a cloud made of cozy moonlight.

Slowly, Remy breathed this soft, glowing mist all around the tired Moon. It swirled and settled, forming a delicate, shimmering blanket that wrapped around her like a comforting hug. The Moon closed her eyes, and a contented sigh escaped her. The mist felt like the softest wool, woven with dreams and stardust.

As Remy continued his gentle hum, the Moon's light grew softer and softer, dimming just a little as she drifted deeper into slumber. Remy stayed by her side, humming his lullaby until the very first sliver of dawn peeked over the horizon, a signal that it was time for the Sun to wake up.

When the Sun appeared, bright and cheerful, Remy knew his job was done. He gave the sleeping Moon one last tender look, then slowly, peacefully, he drifted back to his favorite cloud. As he snuggled into its fluffy softness, listening to the quiet sounds of the world starting to wake up, Remy felt a warmth spread through him. Helping the Moon sleep made him feel sleepy too. He closed his lavender-blue eyes, his breathing slowing to a steady, quiet rhythm, and soon, Remy, the kindest dragon, was fast asleep, dreaming of starry lullabies and cozy cloud blankets.
