A story for: Jude, Age 3
Created July 20, 2026
Once upon a time, in a cozy little house, lived a sweet child named Jude. Tonight, the moon was a soft, sleepy smile in the sky, and the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds.
Jude snuggled under a fluffy blanket. It felt like a big, warm hug. "Story time!" Jude whispered, and a gentle voice began.
"Tonight, Jude, we're going on a special adventure right here in your bed. Can you wiggle your toes?" Jude giggled and wiggled all ten toes under the blanket. "Good! Now, can you make your toes do a little sleepy dance, very, very slowly?"
Jude's toes danced a slow, sleepy jig. "Wonderful! Now, let's pretend your feet are little boats floating on a calm, quiet river. Can you make your feet sway gently, left and right?" Jude's feet swayed, imagining a peaceful river.
"Now, let's make our way up to your knees. Can you give your knees a little pat? Pat, pat, pat. Good job! Now, pretend your knees are quiet little hills, resting under the blanket. No more wiggling for your knees, just soft rest."
Jude felt a little calmer already. "Next are your hands, Jude. Can you open and close your hands, like little flowers blooming and then closing for the night? Open... close... open... close. So gentle."
"Now, let's give those hands a soft rest next to you. Are they feeling sleepy too? I think so! Now, let's think about your shoulders. Can you lift your shoulders up, up, up to your ears, and then let them fall down with a soft sigh? Up... and down. Like a little cloud floating in the sky."
Jude lifted and lowered, feeling a soft sigh escape.
"Now, Jude, let's think about your tummy. Is it feeling warm and cozy under the blanket? Give your tummy a little pat. Pat, pat, pat. Imagine it's a soft, squishy pillow, ready for a good night's sleep."
"And now, your head. Oh, your wonderful head, full of happy thoughts from today. Can you gently turn your head from side to side? Left... and right. Just like saying 'goodbye' to the day. And then, rest your head on your soft pillow. Feel how soft it is?"
Jude's head nestled into the pillow, feeling very comfy. "Now, Jude, let's take three very slow, quiet breaths. Breathe in, like you're smelling a beautiful flower... and breathe out, like you're blowing a feather softly. One... two... three."
Jude breathed in and out, feeling sleepy. The room was dim and peaceful. The stars outside twinkled just for Jude. Jude felt a warm, soft wave of sleepiness wash over. All the little parts of Jude's body were resting now, from sleepy toes to a quiet head. Soon, Jude was fast asleep, dreaming sweet, starlit dreams.
