A story for: Leo, Age 3
Created September 04, 2026
The stars began to twinkle, one by one, like tiny diamonds sprinkled across a big, velvet blanket. Leo, snuggled warm in his favorite blue pajamas, watched from his window. "Goodnight, stars," he whispered softly.
Tonight, a very special cloud floated just outside Leo's window. It wasn't a fluffy white cloud like the daytime ones. This was a sleepy, soft grey cloud, shimmering with a gentle, sleepy light. It was the Whispering Cloud, and it knew all about bedtime stories.
The Whispering Cloud drifted closer, just enough for Leo to see its gentle glow. It didn't speak with a voice, but with soft, shimmery pictures that danced in the air, like a quiet dream unfolding. "Hello, Leo," it seemed to whisper. "Are you ready for your special story tonight?"
Leo nodded, his eyes wide and curious. He snuggled deeper into his covers, feeling warm and safe. The Whispering Cloud began its story, and the shimmery pictures began to appear.
First, Leo saw a little brown bear, just like his teddy, padding softly through a field of moon-petal flowers. The flowers glowed softly, making the path easy to see. The little bear wasn't hurrying; he was enjoying the quiet evening. He stopped to sniff a sweet-smelling flower, then continued on his way.
Next, the pictures showed a gentle river, sparkling with sleepy starlight. A tiny, smooth stone rolled slowly down a soft, mossy bank and into the water with a quiet plink. The ripples spread out, round and round, until they met the edge of the riverbank, then faded away.
Then, Leo saw a sleepy little bird, tucked safely in its nest high up in a tree. The wind made the leaves whisper a lullaby, "Hush, hush, sleep, sleep." The little bird chirped a tiny, sleepy peep, then closed its eyes, feeling cozy and warm.
Each picture was so soft and peaceful, just like a hug. Leo’s eyelids started to feel a little heavy. He imagined himself walking with the little bear, feeling the cool grass under his feet. He pictured the gentle ripples in the starlight river, smooth and calm. He heard the leaves whispering the lullaby to the sleepy bird, and it sounded just like his mommy’s voice when she sang to him.
The Whispering Cloud showed one last picture: Leo, tucked snugly in his bed, his teddy bear beside him, and a soft, sleepy smile on his face. The shimmery light around the cloud grew dimmer, fading gently, just like a candle blown out with a soft puff.
Leo yawned a big, sleepy yawn. The pictures were gone, but the peaceful feelings stayed with him. He felt warm from his head to his toes, like he was wrapped in the softest, coziest blanket. He closed his eyes, and the quiet dreams began to twinkle, just like the stars outside his window. Leo was fast asleep, dreaming sweet, peaceful dreams.
