A story for: Arlo, Age 7
Created August 28, 2026
Once upon a time, high above the world where the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, lived a little boy named Arlo. Arlo loved to look out his window at night. His room was always cozy and warm, but the sky outside was even more magical.
Tonight, Arlo was snuggled in his favorite pajamas, a soft blue pair with little silver rockets. He watched as the moon, round and glowing like a friendly pearl, began its slow journey across the inky sky. He imagined he could almost reach out and touch it.
Suddenly, a tiny, shimmering light zoomed past his window! It wasn't a firefly, or a airplane. This light hummed a soft, sleepy tune. Arlo, wide-eyed but not at all scared, watched as it danced and twirled, then gently floated to his windowsill. It was a little star, no bigger than his thumb, glowing with a gentle, warm light.
“Hello, little star,” Arlo whispered. The star pulsed softly, as if saying hello back. Arlo reached out a finger, and the star, surprisingly soft, settled on his fingertip. It felt like holding a warm, fuzzy dust bunny, but made of light.
“Are you lost?” Arlo asked kindly. The star wobbled a little, then blinked. Arlo giggled. “Maybe you’re just sleepy, like me.”
The little star seemed to agree, its light dimming just a tiny bit. Arlo knew exactly what to do. He carefully carried the star to his bed and tucked it under his blanket, right beside his pillow. The star’s soft glow made his blanket look like it was sparkling with magic.
“You can rest here, little star,” Arlo murmured. “It’s very cozy.”
As Arlo snuggled down, the star’s light spread, not brightly, but like a soft, warm hug. He closed his eyes, and in his mind, he could see a whole universe of sleeping stars, each one tucked into its own cozy corner of the sky. The little star on his pillow seemed to be humming its sleepy tune again, a gentle lullaby just for him.
The warmth from the star made Arlo’s eyelids feel heavy. He imagined he was floating among the clouds, wrapped in a blanket woven from starlight. He felt safe, and loved, and very, very sleepy. With a soft sigh, Arlo drifted off to sleep, dreaming of rockets and moonbeams and a sky full of happy, slumbering stars, all thanks to the little stardust blanket he now shared with his tiny, glowing friend.
