Wren's Starry Dream

A story for: Wren, Age 3

Created July 11, 2026

Once upon a time, nestled deep in a cozy little burrow, lived a tiny mouse named Wren. Wren had soft, gray fur, little pink ears, and the brightest, most curious eyes you ever did see. Every night, just as the moon began its sleepy climb, Wren would peek out from her front door, watching the world get ready for bed.

Tonight, something extra special was happening. The air felt like a soft, warm blanket, and the stars in the sky twinkled like tiny, happy smiles. Wren loved stars more than anything. She imagined they were magic dust sprinkled across the big, dark sky.

"Tonight," Wren whispered to herself, "I'm going to find the Glowing Forest of Stars."

Wren had heard stories from her grandma about a secret part of the forest where the trees glowed with starlight, and the ground twinkled with fallen moonbeams. It sounded like the most peaceful, wonderful place in the whole wide world.

Taking a deep breath, Wren tiptoed out of her burrow. The path ahead was soft with moss, and the sounds of the night were gentle – a cricket chirping a lullaby, and the soft whisper of the leaves in the breeze. Wren walked past sleepy flowers, their petals folded in for the night, and under tall, quiet trees.

Soon, the air started to shimmer. First, it was just a tiny sparkle here, then a gentle glow there. Wren’s little heart fluttered with excitement. She took another step, and then another, and suddenly, she was there!

The Glowing Forest of Stars was even more beautiful than her grandma had described. The trees weren't just trees anymore; their branches held thousands of tiny, soft lights, like little fireflies dancing all at once. The leaves glowed in shades of gentle blue and soft silver, making everything look like a dream.

On the ground, little spots of light pulsed softly, like the forest was breathing. Wren saw a tiny stream, its water sparkling with a thousand reflections of the glowing trees above. She sat down by a big, glowing mushroom, its cap a soft, warm yellow.

Wren watched the gentle light. It felt like the forest was giving her a big, warm hug. She felt safe and loved and very, very sleepy. The glowing lights around her seemed to hum a soft, quiet song, a song just for her.

Her little eyelids grew heavy. She yawned a tiny, quiet yawn. The warmth from the glowing mushroom seeped into her fur, making her feel perfectly cozy. Wren curled into a tiny ball, her breath coming out in soft, even sighs. The glowing forest was her perfect bedtime story, a gentle lullaby of light. As the soft glow surrounded her, Wren closed her eyes, dreaming of starlight and warm, gentle dreams, falling fast asleep in the most beautiful place in the world.
