A story for: Finn, Age 7
Created October 22, 2026
Deep in a cozy little burrow, tucked beneath the roots of a grand old oak tree, lived a tiny mouse named Finn. Finn had soft, silvery fur and the brightest, most curious eyes you ever did see. Every night, just as the sun dipped below the horizon, Finn would scamper to the entrance of his burrow, his whiskers twitching with excitement.
Tonight, however, was special. Tonight, the sky was clearer than clear, and the moon was a friendly, crescent smile. Finn decided to go on a little adventure, a very quiet, gentle adventure, to the place his grandmother mouse always spoke of: the Glowing Forest of Stars.
He tiptoed out, his tiny paws making no sound at all on the soft moss. The air was cool and smelled of damp earth and sweet night-blooming flowers. As he ventured deeper into the woods, something magical began to happen. Tiny specks of light, like miniature fireflies, began to appear, twinkling softly in the shadows.
These weren't fireflies, though. These were the fallen stars, his grandmother had told him. They had drifted down from the sky, landing gently on the leaves and branches, creating a forest floor that glowed with a gentle, sleepy light. Finn’s eyes widened with wonder. The forest path shimmered before him, a carpet of soft, warm starlight.
He walked slowly, carefully, so as not to disturb the sleeping star-lights. Each one pulsed with its own little beat, like tiny, sleepy hearts. Some were bright gold, others soft silver, and a few even glowed with a gentle, calming blue. He felt safe and warm surrounded by so much quiet beauty.
Finn found a particularly cozy spot beneath a large fern, where several star-lights clustered together, casting a soft, golden glow. He curled into a tiny ball, feeling the gentle warmth radiating from the stars. He watched them blink, slowly, rhythmically, like the soft breath of a sleeping giant.
He imagined he was floating on a cloud, gently rocked by the quiet hum of the night. The stars whispered sleepy stories, ancient tales of distant galaxies and dreams yet to be dreamt. Finn's eyelids grew heavy, heavier than ever before. He snuggled deeper into his soft fur, feeling the peaceful calm of the Glowing Forest of Stars embrace him.
With a contented sigh, Finn closed his eyes. The soft, golden light danced behind his eyelids, turning into shimmering, sleepy patterns. He drifted off to sleep, dreaming of flying among the stars, a tiny mouse soaring through an endless, sparkling sky, safe and sound until morning.
