A story for: Leo, Age 4
Created September 28, 2026
Leo snuggled deep into his cozy bed, his favorite blue blanket pulled right up to his chin. Outside his window, the big, big sky was turning soft shades of orange and pink as the sun began to whisper goodnight.
"Look, Mama!" Leo pointed a tiny finger. "The clouds are like fluffy sheep!"
Mama smiled and kissed his forehead. "They are, my love. And sometimes, if you watch very carefully, the clouds tell a story just for you."
Leo’s eyes grew wide. A cloud story? He loved stories! He stared out the window, his imagination starting to twinkle like the first tiny stars.
First, he saw a giant, sleepy bear cloud, slowly stretching its fluffy paws across the sky. The bear cloud yawned a big, silent yawn, and then seemed to curl up, ready for its own cloud nap.
Then, a little way away, Leo spotted a wobbly, round cloud. "It's a marshmallow!" he giggled softly. The marshmallow cloud floated gently, bumping into another cloud that looked like a big, soft pillow. "Now the marshmallow has a comfy place to rest," Leo whispered.
As the sky grew a little darker, the colors changed. The orange faded into a soft lavender, and the pink turned to a deep, peaceful blue. The clouds started to look different too. One big cloud stretched out, long and thin, like a friendly dragon with a very kind face. It didn't breathe fire; it breathed out sleepy dust, making everything calm and quiet.
Next to the dragon cloud, a whole family of tiny, wispy clouds drifted by. They looked like little baby bunnies, hopping ever so slowly, making no sound at all. They bounced gently on the soft air, playing a quiet game of follow-the-leader.
Leo watched the clouds, feeling sleepier with each passing moment. The dragon cloud seemed to wink at him, and the bunny clouds settled down, huddling close together. The big, sleepy bear cloud had almost melted away, leaving just a faint, soft shape. Even the marshmallow cloud and its pillow friend had blended into the darkening blue.
The sky was now a deep, starry canvas, and the last few clouds were like brushed strokes of white paint, fading, fading, fading. Leo felt his eyelids grow heavy, like little cloud-curtains closing over his eyes. He imagined himself floating on a soft cloud, drifting gently to dreamland. The air was warm and still, and he heard the quiet 'shhh' of the night. With a happy sigh, Leo drifted off to sleep, tucked safely into his bed, dreaming of fluffy bears, marshmallow clouds, and friendly sky dragons.
