A story for: Ava, Age 6
Created October 01, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled amongst hills as soft as velvet, stood a magnificent castle. It wasn't just any castle; it was the Whispering Castle, because on quiet nights, if you listened very carefully, you could hear its gentle, happy hum. Inside lived a sweet girl named Ava, with eyes as bright as fireflies and a heart full of dreams.
Every evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, Ava would prepare for bedtime. Tonight, however, she felt a special kind of sleepy wonder. She had spent the day playing hide-and-seek with the castle’s friendly little mice (who always let her find them!) and helping the royal gardener plant sleepy lavender in the courtyard.
After a warm bath that smelled of chamomile, Ava slipped into her softest pajamas. Her bedroom, high in one of the castle towers, was cozy and warm. A gentle breeze, like a soft sigh, drifted through her open window, carrying the scent of night-blooming jasmine.
Ava snuggled into her bed, which was piled high with fluffy pillows. She looked out her window at the twinkling stars, which seemed to be winking just at her. She imagined each star was a tiny lamp, lighting the way for sleepy dreams. The moon, a big friendly smile in the sky, seemed to be watching over her.
The Whispering Castle began its evening hum. It wasn't a loud noise, but a soft, comforting vibration that Ava knew so well. It sounded like a giant lullaby, a gentle song just for the castle and everyone inside it. She closed her eyes and listened. She could almost hear the old stones of the castle whispering, 'Sleep well, sweet Ava. Dream of wonderful things.'
She thought of the fluffy clouds that drifted past her window earlier that day, like giant cotton balls floating in the sky. She imagined she was floating on one now, soft and light, drifting over the sleeping world.
The lavender from the garden filled her room with its calming scent, helping her eyelids grow heavy. She felt so safe and loved, nestled in her castle bed, surrounded by the gentle hum and the soft moonlight. Her breathing became slow and steady, like the gentle tides of a sleepy ocean. The little mice were surely tucked into their tiny beds, and the gardener was probably dreaming of blooming flowers.
Ava's thoughts grew hazy, like mist over a quiet lake. The stars kept twinkling, the moon kept smiling, and the Whispering Castle continued its peaceful hum, guiding Ava softly into a deep, peaceful sleep, filled with the sweetest, happiest dreams.
