Sage's Sleepy Cloud Journey

A story for: Sage, Age 5

Created August 26, 2026

Once upon a time, high above the world where the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, lived a sweet little cloud named Sage. Sage wasn't like other clouds that just drifted by. Oh no, Sage loved adventures, especially gentle, sleepy ones.

Every night, when the moon began its slow climb into the sky, Sage would puff up, big and fluffy, ready for a special journey. Tonight, Sage decided to visit the Land of Whispering Willows, a place where the trees hummed lullabies.

First, Sage drifted past the giggling stars, waving hello with a soft, misty puff. The stars winked back, making the sky sparkle even more. Then, Sage floated over the rooftops of sleeping houses, careful not to make a sound. Beneath, tiny lights glowed, like little sleepy eyes closing for the night.

As Sage neared the Land of Whispering Willows, a soft breeze joined in, gently nudging Sage along. The willows, with their long, flowing branches, swayed back and forth, singing the quietest, most beautiful song. It sounded like 'shhh-shhh-shhh,' a sound that made Sage feel warm and cozy all over.

Sage floated closer to a particularly tall willow, its branches brushing against Sage's soft, cloudy tummy. It felt like a gentle tickle, making Sage giggle a silent, cloud giggle. From the willow's branches, tiny fireflies blinked on and off, like sleepy nightlights.

Sage stayed there for a long time, listening to the willow's song and watching the fireflies dance. The air was so calm, so peaceful. Sage started to feel very, very sleepy. The gentle sway of the willow and the quiet 'shhh-shhh-shhh' were like a warm blanket.

Slowly, Sage began to shrink, becoming smaller and softer. The edges of Sage's cloud body grew blurry, feeling heavy with sleep. The stars above grew dimmer, and the moon seemed to be smiling a sleepy smile. Sage closed its cloud-eyes, feeling the last, soft 'shhh' of the willow.

With one last, gentle puff, Sage snuggled down, becoming just a tiny, dreamy wisp in the vast, quiet sky. Sage was fast asleep, dreaming of more sleepy adventures, waiting for the morning sun to wake the world, and another night to bring new, peaceful journeys. Sweet dreams, little one, just like Sage.
