Wren's Dreamy Cosmic Journey

A story for: Wren, Age 5

Created September 30, 2026

Wren, a tiny astronaut with eyes like twinkling stars, yawned a big, wide, sleepy yawn. It was past her bedtime, but Wren had one more adventure to go on before sleep tucked her in. She climbed into her cozy spaceship, a silver pod with soft, blinking lights, and buckled herself in with a click.

“Time for a sleepy journey,” Wren whispered to her co-pilot, a fluffy moon-bunny named Luna. Luna wiggled her nose in agreement.

First, they zoomed past the giggling stars, which sounded like tiny bells chiming. Their first stop was Planet Puff. This planet was made entirely of soft, fluffy clouds, like giant cotton balls floating in the sky. Wren gently landed her spaceship on a cloud that felt like the softest pillow. She bounced a little, giggling, then snuggled down, feeling very sleepy. The air smelled like warm milk and honey. Luna snored a little happy snore beside her.

Next, they drifted to Planet Shimmer. This planet glowed with soft, gentle colors – blues, purples, and greens – that swirled and danced like slow-moving paint. There were no harsh lights, just a peaceful, calming glow. Wren watched the colors drift by her window, feeling her eyelids grow heavier. She imagined the colors painting beautiful dreams in her mind.

Their spaceship hummed a lullaby as they floated toward Planet Whisper. This planet was covered in tall, swaying reeds that made the gentlest whispering sound, like secrets being shared on the breeze. There were no loud noises here, only the softest rustle of the reeds and the gentle sigh of the wind. Wren closed her eyes for a moment, listening to the calming whispers, feeling safe and warm.

Finally, they reached Planet Blanket. This planet was dark and quiet, covered in a velvety darkness that felt like a warm, soft blanket. Tiny, quiet fireflies blinked on and off, like little sleepy nightlights. Wren knew this was the perfect place to finally rest.

She snuggled deeper into her seat, pulling her own blanket up to her chin. Luna curled up beside her, her soft fur a comforting warmth. The fireflies blinked slower and slower, mirroring Wren's own heavy eyelids. The quiet darkness of Planet Blanket wrapped around her like a warm hug.

Wren yawned one last, tiny yawn. Her head felt heavy, her body felt soft and warm, and her dreams were already beginning to paint wonderful pictures behind her closed eyes. She was drifting, drifting, drifting… into a deep, peaceful sleep, ready for her own bed to welcome her back to Earth in the morning.
