A story for: Zoe, Age 7
Created October 22, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled amongst soft, rolling hills that glowed silver under the moonlight, lived a little girl named Zoe. Tonight, Zoe was tucked snugly in her bed, but her eyes were still a little bit open, watching the moonbeams dance on her ceiling. She imagined those beams were tiny, shimmering pathways leading to a special place.
Her special place was a castle, but not just any castle. It was the Whispering Castle, a place built entirely of dreams and soft wishes. Zoe imagined herself floating gently, like a dandelion seed on the breeze, right through her open window and towards the tallest tower of the Whispering Castle.
As she arrived, the castle gates, made of polished pearl, swung open silently, as if they knew she was coming. Inside, there were no cold, stone walls, but walls woven from fluffy clouds, tinted with the colors of a sunset — soft pinks, gentle oranges, and calming purples. The floors were made of springy moss that felt like walking on a giant, comforting pillow.
Zoe tiptoed through a grand hall where stars, like tiny fairy lights, twinkled down from the high ceiling. Each star hummed a quiet, lullaby-like tune, so soft it was almost like a secret. She peeked into rooms filled with wonders. One room had a garden where flowers glowed with a soft, warm light, and their petals felt like silk against her fingertips. Another room was a library, but instead of books, there were scrolls made of starlight, and when she unrolled one, she saw pictures of friendly animals playing in sun-dappled forests.
Her favorite place in the Whispering Castle was the Sleepy Tower. This tower wasn't grand and bustling; it was quiet and cozy, filled with the scent of lavender and warm milk. At the very top, there was a bed, shaped like a crescent moon, with blankets made from woven moonbeams. Zoe imagined climbing onto the moon-bed. It was so soft, like sinking into the warmest hug.
The moon-bed gently swayed, like a boat on a calm, smooth lake. From the window of the Sleepy Tower, Zoe could see the world below, all tucked in and sleeping soundly. The hills were gentle humps under a blanket of stars, and the trees stood still, dreaming their own quiet dreams. The air in the tower was filled with the softest whispers – not scary whispers, but the kind of whispers that tell you everything is alright, that you are safe, and loved.
As the moon-bed continued its gentle sway, Zoe felt her eyelids grow heavy, heavier than any cloud she had imagined. The lullaby of the stars grew softer and softer, like a melody fading into the distance. She snuggled deeper into the moonbeam blankets, feeling the comforting warmth all around her. The whispers of the castle became her own sleepy breaths, slow and steady. Soon, Zoe was dreaming her own beautiful dreams, safe and sound in the Whispering Castle, until the sun would peek over the gentle hills once more.
