Ivy's Starlight Wish

A story for: Ivy, Age 3

Created September 05, 2026

Once upon a time, in a cozy little house, lived a sweet girl named Ivy. Ivy had soft, curly hair and eyes that twinkled like little stars. Tonight, as the sun went down, the sky turned a beautiful, sleepy orange and purple. Ivy snuggled into her warm bed, ready for a special bedtime adventure.

"Tonight, Ivy, we're going on a quiet trip to the sleepy forest," whispered her Mama. "Can you close your eyes and imagine a soft, mossy path?" Ivy closed her eyes and took a big, gentle breath. She imagined the soft green path under her bare feet.

"Now, as you walk, what do you hear, Ivy?" Mama asked softly. Ivy thought for a moment. "I hear... a little owl, hoo-hooing very quietly," she murmured. "That's right! A sleepy owl," Mama smiled. "And what color are the leaves on the trees in our sleepy forest? Are they bright green, or soft, dark green?"

"Soft, dark green," Ivy whispered, her voice getting a little sleepy. "Like a big, comfy blanket." Mama nodded. "Perfect. Now, look up, little one. The moon is peeking through the branches. Is it a tiny sliver of moon, or a big, round, sleepy moon?"

Ivy pictured the moon. "A big, round, sleepy moon," she decided, her eyelids feeling heavy. "And it's glowing... a soft, yellow light." Mama gently stroked Ivy's hair. "Wonderful. The moon is shining its gentle light on our path, helping us see the way to a very special place. Can you imagine tiny, sparkling dust falling from the moonbeams, like sleepy glitter?"

Ivy gave a little sigh. "Sleepy glitter," she repeated, her voice barely a whisper. "Now, Ivy," Mama continued, her voice like a soft lullaby, "we're coming to a very special clearing. In the middle of the clearing is a tiny, soft bed made of fluffy clouds. What color are your cloud pillows, Ivy?"

"Pink!" Ivy mumbled, a tiny smile on her face. "And blue." "Pink and blue cloud pillows," Mama confirmed. "And a warm, starry blanket. When you lie down on your cloud bed, what do you see above you? Do you see just a few stars, or lots and lots of twinkling stars?"

Ivy was almost asleep now. "Lots and lots," she breathed. "They're winking... goodnight." Mama kissed Ivy's forehead. "Yes, they are, my sweet girl. They're winking goodnight just for you. You're safe and warm on your cloud bed, under the sleepy moon and twinkling stars. And as you snuggle deeper into your cloud pillows, you feel so cozy, so peaceful, so ready for sweet dreams. Goodnight, my sleepy Ivy. Close your eyes, and drift off to dreamland, where all your wishes come true." Ivy let out a soft snore, her breathing even and deep, already fast asleep, dreaming of pink and blue clouds and winking stars.
