A story for: Wren, Age 5
Created September 05, 2026
Deep in a cozy burrow, snuggled in a bed of soft clover, lived a little bunny named Wren. Wren had the fluffiest white tail and the brightest, most curious eyes. Every night, just as the moon peeked through the leaves, Wren would snuggle down, but sometimes, sleep felt a little far away.
One evening, Wren looked out her window. The forest was dark, but a tiny, warm glow twinkled in the distance. It wasn't a firefly, Wren knew that. It was steadier, softer. Wren, who was a very brave bunny, decided to follow the light.
She hopped quietly, her paws making soft thumps on the mossy path. The light grew brighter, and soon Wren saw it. Hanging from the branch of an ancient oak tree was a beautiful lantern. It wasn't made of glass, but of soft, shimmering moonlight woven together, and inside, a gentle, golden glow pulsed.
As Wren drew closer, a sleepy, wise old owl hooted softly from a nearby branch. “That, little Wren,” the owl whispered, “is the Dream Lantern.”
“The Dream Lantern?” Wren asked, her nose twitching with wonder.
“Indeed,” the owl said. “It lights the way for all the good dreams to find their sleepers. When you feel a little worried, or when sleep is playing hide-and-seek, the Dream Lantern helps your dreams sparkle and shine until they reach you.”
Wren gazed at the lantern. It truly was magical. She imagined all the wonderful dreams floating on its golden light – dreams of chasing butterflies in sunny meadows, dreams of munching on the sweetest carrots, dreams of playing hide-and-seek with her bunny friends.
The owl ruffled his feathers. “Now, little one, watch closely.” As he spoke, the golden light inside the lantern swirled and stretched, sending out tiny, shimmering tendrils of light that drifted gently into the dark forest.
Wren felt a warmth spread through her heart. She wasn't scared of the dark anymore. The Dream Lantern was there, carefully guiding all the good, happy dreams right to her burrow.
A soft yawn escaped Wren's mouth. The owl smiled. “Time for you to let those dreams find you, Wren.”
Wren thanked the owl and hopped softly back home. As she snuggled into her clover bed, she closed her eyes. She imagined the Dream Lantern’s warm glow, lighting up a path just for her dreams. She pictured a dream of flying on a dandelion puff, high above the trees, watching the stars twinkle.
The warmth of the lantern seemed to fill her little burrow, making her feel safe and cozy. A gentle smile touched Wren's lips. The Dream Lantern was always there, shining bright, ready to send her the sweetest, most peaceful dreams. With a happy sigh, Wren drifted off to sleep, knowing that wonderful adventures awaited her in dreamland.
