Remy and the Sleepy Moon

A story for: Remy, Age 4

Created September 26, 2026

Once upon a time, high above the world, lived a very special little dragon named Remy. Remy wasn't like other dragons you might imagine. He didn't breathe fire, not even a tiny spark. Instead, Remy breathed out soft, shimmery, silver stardust, and his scales glowed with a gentle, sleepy blue.

Every night, Remy would watch the big, round moon in the sky. He loved the moon. It was so bright and watchful. But sometimes, Remy noticed the moon looked a little tired. Its light would flicker, and it would seem to yawn a very, very big, silent yawn.

One evening, as the stars began to twinkle, Remy saw the moon looking extra sleepy. Its glow was dim, and it looked like it was trying very hard to keep its eyes open. Remy knew just what to do. He flapped his tiny, leathery wings and soared up, up, up, past the tallest trees and fluffy clouds, until he was very close to the moon.

"Hello, dear Moon!" Remy whispered, his voice like the rustle of soft leaves. "You look a bit weary tonight."

Even though the moon couldn't talk, Remy felt a gentle nod, like a big, sleepy sigh.

"Don't you worry," Remy said, his blue scales shimmering. "I'm here to help you get some rest." He took a deep, deep breath, and then, very gently, he breathed out his silver stardust. The stardust floated around the moon like a soft, sparkling blanket.

The moon sighed again, but this time it was a sigh of relief. The stardust wasn't sticky or heavy; it was light and airy, and it smelled faintly of lavender and dreams. Remy continued to breathe out his magical stardust, making a cozy, shimmering cloud all around the moon.

The moon's light grew softer and softer, and its big, round shape seemed to nestle into the stardust cloud. Soon, the moon's light was just a soft, sleepy glow, and Remy knew it was fast asleep, dreaming sweet, moonlit dreams.

Remy smiled, his job complete. He floated gently back down, down, down, until he was back in his cozy bed. He snuggled under his own blanket, feeling warm and happy. The silver stardust he had breathed out for the moon still shimmered faintly around him, making his room feel peaceful and calm. Remy closed his own eyes, feeling very sleepy now, and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of soft stardust and a well-rested moon.
