A story for: Ava, Age 7
Created June 23, 2026
The moon was a soft, sleepy smile outside Ava's window, casting a silver glow across her bedroom.
Ava snuggled deeper into her covers, which felt like a warm, gentle hug. Her favorite stuffed bunny, Floppy, was tucked right beside her, his long ears drooping in sleepy contentment.
She looked around her room, feeling safe and cozy. The walls were painted a calming lavender, and a row of twinkling fairy lights draped over her bookshelf, sparkling like tiny captured stars. Her special dream catcher, woven with soft white feathers, swayed gently above her bed, promising only sweet dreams.
Ava thought about her day. She had built a magnificent castle out of blocks, taller than her little brother Leo! And then, she had drawn a picture of a rainbow, using all the brightest crayons. Each memory was a little warm ember in her heart, making her feel happy and content.
She closed her eyes, and her breath became slow and steady. She imagined her bed was a soft, fluffy cloud, floating gently in the night sky. The cloud drifted past the moon, which winked at her like an old friend. Below, the world was quiet and peaceful, all tucked in for the night.
The cloud floated higher, past the twinkling stars. Ava felt lighter and lighter, as if she could almost touch them. Each star seemed to whisper a lullaby, a soft, hushed song just for her. She could feel the gentle sway of the cloud, a rocking motion that made her eyelids feel heavier and heavier.
Her blanket was like a warm cocoon, keeping her safe and snug. The air in her room smelled faintly of lavender, the same calming scent as her walls. She heard the soft, steady ticking of her little clock on the bedside table, a comforting sound that reminded her that everything was just as it should be.
Ava imagined her cloud slowly drifting back down, landing softly in her bedroom. She was still on her bed, but it felt like the softest, coziest cloud in the whole world. Floppy was still beside her, his little bunny nose twitching almost imperceptibly.
With a final, happy sigh, Ava drifted deeper into sleep, her dreams already beginning to paint themselves in soft, beautiful colors. She was safe, she was warm, and she was loved. And in her cozy cloud bed, she slept soundly until morning.
