A story for: Ivy, Age 4
Created July 29, 2026
The moonbeams were painting silvery stripes on Ivy’s bedroom floor, and the little stars outside twinkled like tiny diamonds. It was bedtime, and Ivy was tucked snugly under her cozy quilt. She closed her eyes, ready for her special bedtime game.
Ivy’s favorite game was called ‘Imagination Adventures.’ It was a secret game she played all by herself, right before sleep came to visit. Tonight, she decided her adventure would be about floating among the stars.
First, Ivy imagined she was a little cloud, soft and fluffy, gently drifting up, up, up! Higher than the tallest trees, higher than the highest mountain peaks. The air felt cool and soft against her imaginary cloud cheeks, like a gentle whispered secret.
Soon, she reached the sky where the stars lived. Oh, they were even more beautiful up close! Each star sparkled with its own special light, some bright yellow, some soft orange, and some a gentle, sleepy blue. Ivy giggled, a quiet, imaginary giggle, as she floated past a star that winked at her.
She saw a big, friendly moon, round and glowy, like a giant nightlight in the sky. The moon smiled a soft, sleepy smile, and Ivy felt warm and safe, even way up high among the cosmos.
Then, she imagined she could reach out and touch a star. Not a hot, burny star, but a cool, smooth, special star made just for her. She imagined it felt like a tiny, polished pebble, humming with a gentle, sleepy song.
Ivy held her imaginary star close, and it glowed softly in her hands, casting a warm, comforting light all around her. She felt like the luckiest girl in the whole wide sky, with her own secret star friend.
She floated slowly, gently, past sleepy planets, some red like a cozy blanket, others blue like a calm ocean. Everything was peaceful and quiet, with only the soft hum of the stars keeping her company.
As she drifted, the imaginary star in her hands began to glow a little dimmer, and the soft, sleepy song it hummed became even softer. Ivy felt her own eyes grow heavy, just like the sleepy planets she was passing.
The moon smiled its last sleepy smile, and the stars began to twinkle a little slower. Ivy snuggled deeper into her imaginary cloud, still holding her special star. The star’s light became a tiny, warm glow, like a whisper of a dream.
She felt herself slowly floating back down, down, down, past the clouds, past the mountaintops, and gently, gently, back into her warm, cozy bed. The imaginary star nestled close to her, its soft light turning into the last sleepy spark before dreams took over. Ivy took a deep, peaceful breath, and a soft, sweet sleep carried her away, her starlight secret safe until morning.
