A story for: Wren, Age 4
Created July 26, 2026
Once upon a time, high above the world where the sky met the very top of the tallest trees, lived a little girl named Wren. Wren wasn't just any little girl; she was the Princess of Stars. Every night, as the sun dipped down and painted the clouds in sleepy oranges and purples, Wren would get ready for her very special job.
Tonight, Wren snuggled into her soft, cloud-like bed. Her blanket was woven from moonbeams, and her pillow felt like the gentlest puff of air. Outside her window, the first tiny stars began to peek out, like little diamonds scattered on a dark velvet cloth.
"Time to make the stars twinkle," Wren whispered to her fluffy, sleepy owl, Hoot. Hoot blinked slowly, his big, kind eyes reflecting the first few sparkles.
Wren closed her eyes and took a very deep, quiet breath. She imagined her heart glowing with a warm, gentle light. This light was her special star-magic. With each soft breath out, a little piece of her light would float up, up, up, to join the stars in the sky. It was her way of saying goodnight and making sure all the stars had enough sparkle for sleepy children to wish upon.
She imagined her light making the Big Dipper shine even brighter, and helping the shy Little Bear constellation twinkle with confidence. She sent a soft, warm glow to the very distant stars, helping them feel close and loved.
Wren thought of all the sleepy animals in their nests and burrows. She thought of the flowers closing their petals for the night. She even thought of her own mommy and daddy, dreaming sweet dreams in their cozy beds.
As Wren breathed in and out, her own light started to feel calmer and calmer. The room grew softer, filled with the gentle hum of her star-magic at work. The moonbeam blanket felt extra warm tonight, like a soft hug. Hoot had tucked his head under his wing, already dreaming of starlit adventures.
Wren yawned a tiny, quiet yawn. Her eyelids felt heavy, like little clouds. She felt so peaceful, knowing all the stars were shining brightly because of her gentle magic. Her own glow had made them ready for the night. And now, her own body was ready for a peaceful sleep.
She snuggled deeper into her bed, feeling the quiet calm all around her. The last thing she heard was the soft whisper of the night wind, carrying a little twinkle from the stars, right to her window. Wren closed her eyes and drifted into the sweetest, most peaceful dreams, knowing the stars would watch over her until morning.
