A story for: Wren, Age 4
Created August 29, 2026
Deep in the Whispering Woods, where the moonbeams danced on soft moss, lived a little bunny named Wren. Wren wasn't just any bunny; she was a brave bunny with a heart full of wonder. Every night, when the stars began to twinkle like tiny diamonds, Wren would get ready for her special job.
Wren had a very important secret: she was the guardian of the Dream Lantern. This wasn't an ordinary lantern. Oh no! It glowed with a warm, gentle light that helped all the little forest creatures have the sweetest dreams. When the light from the Dream Lantern shone, sleepy squirrels dreamed of acorn feasts, and fluffy owlets dreamed of soaring high above the trees.
Tonight, as the sky turned a deep, sleepy indigo, Wren carefully hopped to her cozy burrow. Inside, nestled on a bed of soft clover, was the Dream Lantern. It pulsed with a soft, golden light, humming a quiet, comforting song. Wren picked it up gently, its warmth spreading through her paws.
“Time to light the dreams,” she whispered, her nose twitching with excitement. She hopped out of her burrow, holding the lantern high. Its light spread out like a cozy blanket, wrapping around the sleeping trees and the quiet stream. She saw a little family of field mice snuggled in their nest, their whiskers twitching softly as the Dream Lantern’s glow reached them. They were probably dreaming of warm burrows and crunchy seeds.
Further on, near the old oak tree, a sleepy badger yawned, his eyes closing slowly. Wren’s lantern cast a gentle circle of light around him, and soon, he was dreaming of digging tunnels and finding juicy worms. Wren smiled. It made her so happy to know her lantern was bringing such sweet peace to her friends.
As Wren continued her quiet journey, the air grew cooler, and the stars shone even brighter. The Dream Lantern’s light seemed to grow with each passing moment, reaching farther and farther into the quiet woods. It was a beacon of comfort, a promise of happy dreams until the morning sun peeked over the horizon.
Finally, Wren felt her own little bunny eyes growing heavy. Her journey was almost complete. She had made sure all her friends were tucked into their dream-filled sleep. With a soft yawn, she hopped back to her own burrow. She carefully placed the Dream Lantern beside her, its light now a soft, pulsing lullaby just for her.
The gentle glow filled her burrow, making it feel extra safe and warm. Wren snuggled into her clover bed, her nose twitching one last time. The Dream Lantern's soft light danced on her eyelids, and she began to dream. She dreamed of sunshine, sweet clovers, and the quiet peace of the Whispering Woods. And as Wren drifted deeper into sleep, the Dream Lantern continued to glow, a silent guardian of all the sweet dreams in the night.
