A story for: Arlo, Age 3
Created July 02, 2026
Once upon a time, far, far away in a cozy little house, lived a small boy named Arlo. Arlo loved the night. He loved the quiet, the soft shadows, and most of all, he loved the sparkling stars that peeked through his bedroom window.
Tonight, Arlo was tucked snugly in his bed, his favorite blanket pulled right up to his chin. He looked out at the sky. A big, friendly moon, like a golden cookie, was smiling down at him. "Hello, Moon!" Arlo whispered.
Suddenly, a tiny, twinkly star floated down from the sky, right into Arlo's room! It sparkled with all the colors of a rainbow. "Hello, Arlo!" the little star whispered back, its voice like the gentle chime of a bell. "Would you like to come on a sleepy adventure with me?"
Arlo’s eyes widened with wonder. "Yes, please!" he whispered. The little star shimmered, and before Arlo knew it, he was floating gently out of his window, holding onto the star's soft, sparkly light.
They floated past the big, friendly moon, who winked a sleepy eye at Arlo. They drifted by fluffy, white clouds that looked like giant cotton balls, soft enough to nap on. Arlo giggled softly.
"Look, Arlo!" the little star chirped. "It's the Planet of Gentle Dreams!" Arlo looked down and saw a beautiful planet, glowing with soft, purply-blue light. Tiny, sleepy animals were curled up on its surface, dreaming sweet dreams. A little bunny was dreaming of carrots, and a tiny bear was dreaming of honey.
They floated on, past twinkling comets with long, flowing tails that looked like silky ribbons. Arlo reached out and felt the cool, soft air of space. It was so peaceful and quiet up here, just like his room at bedtime.
"And over there," the star whispered, "is the Galaxy of Goodnight Kisses." Arlo saw millions and millions of stars, all blowing little, sparkly goodnight kisses down to the sleeping children on Earth.
Arlo felt a soft yawn bubble up. He leaned his head against the little star, which felt warm and comforting. "It's so beautiful," he mumbled, his eyelids feeling heavy.
"It's time to go home, sleepy head," the little star said gently. It slowly, slowly floated Arlo back towards his window. He drifted through the air, past the quiet houses, and back into his cozy room.
The little star gave Arlo a soft, sparkly hug. "Sweet dreams, Arlo," it whispered. Arlo snuggled deep into his bed. He watched as the little star floated back up to join its friends in the sky, winking one last time.
Arlo closed his eyes. He could still feel the gentle sway of the starlight, and the quiet peace of the galaxy. He imagined the sleepy bunny and the tiny bear dreaming on the Planet of Gentle Dreams. With a happy sigh, Arlo drifted off to his own wonderful, starry slumber, dreaming of moonbeams and friendly stars.
