Finn's Starry Slumber

A story for: Finn, Age 3

Created September 23, 2026

Once upon a time, high above the puffy white clouds, lived a little boy named Finn. Finn had the kindest eyes and a smile that sparkled like the tiny stars he loved so much. Every night, as the sky turned a sleepy shade of purple, Finn would cuddle into his cozy bed, ready for an adventure.

Tonight, Finn closed his eyes and imagined he was floating, floating up, up, up! He was in his very own spaceship, a little red rocket just big enough for him and his favorite teddy bear, Barnaby. Barnaby wore a tiny astronaut helmet, just like Finn’s.

“Ready for launch, Barnaby?” Finn whispered, even though Barnaby couldn’t really talk. He just blinked his button eyes in agreement. Three, two, one…WHOOSH! Their spaceship gently lifted off the ground, leaving Finn’s bedroom window far below.

First, they flew past the moon. It was big and round and glowed like a friendly nightlight. Finn waved. “Goodnight, Moon!” he mumbled, and the moon seemed to wink back, making the spaceship bob ever so softly.

Next, they drifted through a field of twinkling stars. Each star looked like a tiny diamond scattered across a dark, velvet blanket. Some stars were little, like sprinkles on a cupcake, and some were big and bright, like fireflies playing hide-and-seek. Finn reached out his hand, and a little star tickled his fingers before gently floating away.

Then, Finn saw a beautiful swirl of colors – pinks and blues and purples, all dancing together. “Look, Barnaby, a galaxy!” Finn giggled. It looked like a giant lollipop in the sky, spinning slowly, slowly. They floated right through it, and the colors felt soft and warm, like a rainbow blanket wrapping around them.

Finn yawned a big, sleepy yawn. The spaceship was moving slower now, gently rocking him. He looked out the window one last time. The stars were shining even brighter, like they were whispering goodnight to him. The moon was still there, a soft, friendly glow.

Barnaby snuggled closer, his button eyes almost closed. Finn felt so safe and cozy in his little red rocket. The gentle hum of the spaceship was like a lullaby, and the soft, dark sky outside felt like a big, warm hug.

Finn closed his eyes, his breathing getting slower and deeper. He wasn't flying anymore; he was just drifting, drifting, drifting… into a wonderful, starry slumber. Dream sweet, little Finn, dream sweet under the watchful eyes of the moon and stars.
