Cleo's Dream Lantern

A story for: Cleo, Age 3

Created October 02, 2026

Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy burrow under the softest moss, lived a little bunny named Cleo. Cleo had the fluffiest white tail and the wiggliest pink nose. Every night, when the moon peeked through the trees, Cleo would snuggle down in her bed, but sometimes, a little worry would flit about in her tummy like a sleepy firefly.

One evening, as the stars began to twinkle, Cleo looked out her burrow door. There, hanging from a sturdy branch, was a beautiful, glowing lantern. It wasn't just any lantern; it had a gentle, soft light, like a warm hug. Cleo’s mommy, a wise old bunny with kind eyes, hopped over. “That, my dear Cleo,” she whispered, “is the Dream Lantern. It lights the path to wonderful dreams.”

Cleo’s eyes grew wide. “Does it make scary things go away?” she asked, a tiny bit shy.

Her mommy nuzzled her. “It shines so brightly, sweet Cleo, that only happy dreams can find their way to you. It helps you be brave in your sleep, just like you’re brave during the day.”

Cleo felt a warm feeling spread through her chest. She imagined the lantern’s soft glow painting her dreams with colors of sunshine and fields of clover. She thought about her favorite carrot, crunchy and sweet, and pictured herself hopping through tall grass with her friends, giggling.

That night, Cleo snuggled deeper into her mossy bed. She could see the faint, comforting glow of the Dream Lantern through her window. It felt like a tiny star watching over her. She closed her eyes and took a big, soft breath, letting all the little worries float away like dandelion fluff.

She imagined the lantern’s light wrapping around her, a warm, sparkly blanket. In her mind, she saw a big, friendly butterfly with wings like rainbows, fluttering around her. She wasn't scared; she was brave. The butterfly landed gently on her nose, tickling her with its soft feet. Cleo giggled in her sleep, a tiny, happy sound.

The Dream Lantern kept shining its gentle light. Cleo drifted deeper and deeper into her dreams, a smile on her little bunny face. The world outside was quiet and peaceful, and inside her burrow, Cleo was sleeping soundly, safe and warm, dreaming the sweetest, happiest dreams, all thanks to the kind light of the Dream Lantern.
