A story for: Milo, Age 4
Created October 14, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy little burrow under a big, old oak tree, lived a tiny bunny named Milo. Milo had soft, white fur, a twitchy pink nose, and the biggest, brightest eyes. Every night, when the stars began to twinkle like spilled sugar across the dark sky, Milo would get ready for his most important job.
Milo wasn't just any bunny; he was the keeper of the Dream Lantern. This wasn't a regular lantern you could hold in your paw. Oh no! The Dream Lantern was made of moonbeams and stardust, and it glowed with a gentle, sleepy light that helped all the little forest creatures have the sweetest dreams.
Tonight, Milo hopped to the entrance of his burrow, carrying a small, imaginary key. He pretended to unlock a secret door that led to the Dream Lantern's special resting place. With a big stretch and a tiny yawn, Milo carefully picked up the glowing lantern. It hummed a soft, lullaby tune, just for him.
Milo began his slow, quiet journey through the whispering woods. First, he peeked into the nest of little bluebirds. He held the Dream Lantern up high, and its soft light spilled over them, painting their tiny feathers with gentle colors. The bluebirds chirped a tiny, sleepy thank you in their dreams, dreaming of flying high above the tallest trees.
Next, Milo tiptoed past the sleepy squirrel's drey. The squirrel was curled in a tight ball, dreaming of crunchy acorns and sunny days. Milo let the Dream Lantern's light touch the squirrel's fluffy tail, making sure his dreams were full of happy wiggles and delicious treats.
Milo continued his rounds, his little nose twitching with each soft breeze. He visited the sleepy field mice, tucked snugly in their beds of leaves. He made sure the sleepy hedgehog, curled up like a spiky ball, had warm, cozy dreams. The Dream Lantern made sure every creature felt safe and loved in their sleep.
As the night grew deeper and the moon climbed higher, Milo felt a gentle warmth spread through his own little bunny heart. He loved helping all his friends dream sweet dreams. Now, his important job was almost done. He knew it was time for his own dreams.
Milo returned to his burrow, carefully placing the Dream Lantern back in its special spot. Its soft glow filled his burrow with a comforting light. He snuggled into his soft moss bed, feeling very warm and very sleepy. The Dream Lantern hummed its lullaby just for him now. Milo closed his bright eyes, feeling its gentle light wrap around him like a cozy blanket. He took a deep, peaceful breath, and drifted off to sleep, ready for his own wonderful dreams.
