A story for: Noah, Age 6
Created August 25, 2026
Once upon a time, in a city where buildings touched the sky and lights twinkled like fallen stars, lived a little boy named Noah. Every night, as the sun dipped below the tall buildings, Noah would sit by his window and watch the city transform.
Tonight, Noah snuggled into his favorite blanket, a soft, fuzzy one that felt like a warm cloud. Outside, the streetlights flickered on, one by one, like a secret message being sent across the city. Cars drove by, their headlights making gentle golden streaks on the wet pavement. Each sound was soft and distant, like the city was whispering lullabies.
Noah loved the way the city looked at night. The skyscrapers, so tall and grand in the daytime, now looked like sleeping giants, their windows glowing with warm, soft light. He imagined the people inside, tucked into their own beds, just like him. Maybe some were reading a book, or listening to a quiet song, or perhaps they were already dreaming wonderful dreams.
He watched a little red plane fly high above, its tiny lights blinking rhythmically. "Goodnight, little plane," Noah whispered. He wondered where it was going, carrying sleepy travelers to their beds in another city, far away.
The moon, a gentle silver crescent, peeked from behind a fluffy cloud, casting a soft glow on Noah's room. It was like a friendly nightlight in the sky. He closed his eyes for a moment, listening to the gentle hum of the refrigerator in the kitchen and the distant, soothing whoosh of the wind around the tall buildings.
Noah imagined his city as a big, cozy blanket, tucked in for the night. The cars were little sleepy bugs, making their way home. The lights were tiny fireflies, saying goodnight to everyone. He felt so safe and warm, wrapped in his blanket, with the city gently humming all around him.
He yawned a big, sleepy yawn. His eyelids felt heavy, like they were filled with soft feathers. He thought about his favorite toy train, sitting quietly on its track, waiting for morning to choo-choo again. He thought about his soft pillow, waiting for his head to rest upon it. The city was quiet now, its whispers growing softer and softer.
Noah burrowed deeper into his blanket. The gentle glow from the window was like a warm hug. He closed his eyes again, and this time, when he opened them just a tiny bit, the city outside looked even dreamier, like a painting coming to life. He sighed contentedly, and with the soft, gentle hum of the city as his lullaby, Noah drifted off to sleep, ready for wonderful dreams.
