A story for: Remy, Age 6
Created August 01, 2026
The stars twinkling outside Remy’s window looked like tiny diamond dust scattered across a big, velvet blanket. Remy, tucked snugly in bed, yawned a wide, sleepy yawn. Tonight, Remy was a brave little astronaut, ready for a very special, very quiet space adventure.
“Goodnight, Comet!” Remy whispered to the soft, glowing star toy. Comet blinked a gentle, warm light, ready to be the co-pilot.
Remy’s spaceship, made of pillows and a comfy blanket, lifted off with a soft whoosh in Remy’s imagination. They floated through the inky blackness, past swirling galaxies painted in shades of purple and blue, until a soft, pearly-white planet appeared. This was Planet Puff, a world made entirely of fluffy clouds.
Remy’s spaceship landed gently on a cloud so soft it felt like a giant marshmallow. The air on Planet Puff smelled like sweet vanilla, and tiny, gentle puffs of cloud floated by like lazy sheep. Remy saw little cloud creatures, no bigger than a thumb, quietly drifting, sometimes bumping into each other with a soft ‘poof.’ There were no loud noises, just the gentle whisper of the cloud wind. Remy felt a wave of calm wash over them, like being hugged by a warm, soft cloud.
After a little while, Remy gave a sleepy wave to the cloud creatures and eased their spaceship back into the starlit sky. “Next stop, Comet,” Remy murmured, “somewhere even calmer.”
Soon, a new planet gleamed into view. This was Planet Twinkle-Shine. It was covered in millions of smooth, polished stones that reflected the starlight in a soft, dancing glow. There were no sharp edges here, just rounded, soothing surfaces. As Remy’s ship landed, the gentle clinking of the stones sounded like tiny, distant chimes in the breeze. Remy imagined walking on them, feeling their cool, smooth tops under their feet, sparkling like a secret treasure path. Little glow-worms, no bigger than Remy's pinky finger, blinked their lights on and off in slow, sleepy patterns, like a silent, lullaby light show.
Remy felt their eyelids growing heavier, their body feeling wonderfully relaxed. The soft clinking of the stones and the gentle blinking of the glow-worms were like a calming song. Comet, the co-pilot, glowed a little dimmer, ready for sleep too.
“Just one more, Comet,” Remy whispered, their voice already thick with sleep. The spaceship drifted slowly, silently, through the velvet dark. Then, they saw it: Planet Quiet-Pool. It was a world of calm, still lakes, reflecting the stars like a thousand tiny mirrors. The water was so still, not a ripple disturbed its surface. There were no waves, no sounds, just the peaceful, unmoving reflections.
Remy’s ship floated down to the edge of a quiet pool. The air here was cool and smelled faintly of moonlight. Remy imagined dipping their toes into the smooth, dark water, feeling its gentle coolness. Tiny, sleepy fish with shimmery scales swam in slow, dreamy circles beneath the surface, their movements barely stirring the water.
Remy watched the reflections dance softly, the stars winking lazily in the still water. A deep, peaceful sigh escaped Remy’s lips. The journey had been long, but so wonderfully calm. Remy snuggled deeper into their bed, their imaginary spaceship now a soft, safe nest. The quiet pools of Planet Quiet-Pool, the shimmering stones of Planet Twinkle-Shine, and the fluffy clouds of Planet Puff all blended into a warm, sleepy feeling. Remy closed their eyes, a little astronaut, peacefully dreaming of gentle galaxies, as they drifted off to sleep.
