Arlo's Cozy Kingdom

A story for: Arlo, Age 4

Created June 30, 2026

Tonight, as the sun dipped down and painted the sky in soft shades of orange and pink, little Arlo was getting ready for bed. He loved his bedroom. It was his very own cozy kingdom.

First, Arlo helped his mommy put away his bright red truck and his soft, fluffy teddy bear. Everything had its own special spot. "Goodnight, truck. Goodnight, bear," Arlo whispered softly.

Next, it was time for his warm bath. The water felt so nice and bubbly on his skin. He splashed a little, but not too much, and then wrapped himself in a big, soft towel that smelled like lavender. He loved that smell.

After his bath, Arlo put on his favorite pajamas. They were blue with little white stars all over them, just like the stars he sometimes saw twinkling outside his window. He felt so comfy and snug in them.

Then, Arlo climbed into his bed. His sheets were smooth and cool, and his pillow was just right for resting his head. Mommy tucked him in, pulling the blankets up to his chin. "Are you cozy, my little star?" she asked, and Arlo nodded with a happy sigh.

Mommy sat on the edge of his bed and began to read his favorite storybook about a little bunny who loved to jump. Her voice was soft and gentle, like a warm hug. Arlo listened to every word, imagining the fluffy bunny hopping through green fields.

When the story was finished, Mommy gave him a kiss on his forehead. "Sweet dreams, Arlo," she whispered. She turned on his little nightlight, which cast a soft, yellow glow on the wall, like a tiny moon in his room.

Arlo closed his eyes. He listened to the quiet sounds of the house. The gentle tick-tock of the clock in the hallway, the soft rustle of leaves outside his window. He imagined himself floating on a fluffy white cloud, drifting slowly, slowly.

His breathing became slow and steady. His muscles relaxed, from his wobbly toes to his sleepy eyelids. He felt so safe and warm in his cozy kingdom. With a peaceful sigh, Arlo drifted off to sleep, ready for wonderful dreams.
