A story for: Ivy, Age 4
Created November 06, 2026
Far, far away, in a big blue ocean, lived a kind little whale named Ivy. Ivy wasn't just any whale; she had the most beautiful, softest singing voice in the whole wide sea.
Every evening, as the sun began to dip its toes into the water, painting the sky with colors of orange and pink, Ivy knew it was her special time. It was time to sing the ocean to sleep.
First, she would take a deep, gentle breath, feeling the cool water all around her. Then, a quiet hum would start in her tummy, a tiny, happy sound. It would grow and grow, until it was a wonderful, sleepy song. "Ooooh-ooooh-ooooh," she would sing, a sound as soft as a cloud and as warm as a hug.
The little fish, who had been darting and playing all day, would slow down. Their sparkly fins would move just a little bit slower. The sea turtles, who had been swimming long distances, would find a cozy spot on the warm sand and tuck their heads in, listening. Even the busy little crabs would stop scuttling sideways, their tiny eyes growing heavy.
Ivy's song was like a gentle lullaby for the whole ocean. It told tales of quiet waves, sleepy starfish, and dreams of floating on moonbeams. Her voice made the water feel like a soft blanket, tucking everyone in for a peaceful night.
The big, bright moon would peek out from behind the clouds, casting a silvery path on the water. It loved Ivy’s song too. It made the ocean sparkle just a little bit more, like tiny diamonds dancing on the surface.
As Ivy sang, she felt so happy and peaceful. She saw all the sea creatures, big and small, settling down for a long, lovely sleep. Their wiggles stopped, their flutters faded, and their dreams began.
Finally, as the last star blinked awake in the night sky, Ivy would sing her very last, softest note. "Ooooh-ooooh... goodnight, dear ocean," she would whisper. Then, with a little yawn, she would find her own comfy place in the quiet water. She would close her big, kind eyes, feeling the gentle sway of the ocean she loved so much. And as the last echoes of her lullaby faded, Ivy drifted off into her own sweet, peaceful sleep, ready for another day of singing tomorrow.
