A story for: Eli, Age 4
Created July 11, 2026
Far, far away, in the deep blue ocean, lived a very special whale named Eli. Eli wasn't like the other whales who made big, bubbly splashes and swam super fast. Eli loved to sing.
Every evening, as the sun began to dip below the water's edge, painting the sky in soft shades of pink and orange, Eli would find a quiet spot. He would float gently, his big, kind eyes looking up at the shimmering surface of the water.
Then, he would begin to sing. His song wasn't loud or booming; it was soft and sweet, like a lullaby made of ocean whispers. It was a song just for the ocean, to help everyone get ready for a peaceful night's sleep.
The little fish, who had been darting and playing all day, would slow down their wiggles. They'd tuck themselves into the soft, green seaweed, their tiny fins barely moving. Eli's song made them feel safe and cozy.
The playful dolphins, who loved to jump and twirl, would stop their games. They'd gather close to Eli, listening to his gentle melody. They would close their eyes, feeling the sway of the water and the comfort of his voice.
Even the big, slow sea turtles, who spent their days munching on yummy ocean plants, would find a warm, sandy spot. They'd pull their heads into their shells just a little, letting Eli's song wash over them like a soft, warm blanket.
The corals, usually so busy making their colorful homes, would seem to glow a little softer as Eli sang. The ocean currents, which could sometimes be a bit bouncy, would grow calm and steady, like a gentle rock-a-bye.
Eli sang about the sparkly stars that were beginning to peek through the dark sky. He sang about the moon, like a friendly, round night light, that would soon be shining on the water. He sang about sweet dreams and peaceful rest.
His song made the whole ocean feel sleepy and loved. The water itself seemed to hum along, a quiet, soothing sound.
As the very last note of his lullaby faded, the ocean was perfectly still. Everyone was asleep, dreaming happy, sleepy dreams.
Eli felt a warm, cozy feeling spread through his big whale heart. He had sung the ocean to sleep once again. He let out a soft, sleepy sigh. His own eyes began to feel heavy. He closed them, drifting gently with the quiet current, ready for his own wonderful, peaceful sleep.
