Noah and the Dream Lantern

A story for: Noah, Age 4

Created October 14, 2026

Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy burrow under a big, soft oak tree, lived a little bunny named Noah. Noah had the floofiest white tail and the wiggliest pink nose you ever did see. Every evening, when the sun dipped below the sleepy hills and painted the sky in shades of orange and purple, Noah would get ready for bed.

But Noah wasn't just any bunny. Noah was a very brave bunny, especially when it came to his special job. You see, Noah had a magical lantern. It wasn't just any lantern; it was the Dream Lantern! It glowed with a soft, warm light, like a firefly holding a tiny star.

Tonight, as the moon peeked out from behind a fluffy cloud, Noah took his Dream Lantern and tiptoed to his window. He held the lantern up high, and its gentle light reached out, far, far away, touching all the sleeping creatures in the forest. The light from Noah's Dream Lantern helped everyone have happy, sweet dreams.

First, the light touched the little field mice, snuggled in their nests of soft grass. They dreamed of cheese so delicious, it melted in their mouths. Then, the light danced over to the sleepy squirrels, tucked into hollows in the trees. They dreamed of finding the biggest, shiniest acorns in the whole forest.

Noah giggled softly as the light twinkled towards the family of owls, perched on a high branch. They dreamed of flying through the night sky, their wings strong and quiet. The Dream Lantern even sent its glow to the tiny ladybugs, asleep on a dewy leaf, who dreamed of painting the flowers with bright, happy colors.

As Noah watched his Dream Lantern spread its magic, he felt a warm, tingly feeling in his chest. He knew he was doing a very important job, helping all his friends have the best dreams. The light from the lantern made the shadows in his room disappear, making everything feel safe and cozy.

Finally, when all the forest creatures were happily dreaming, Noah gave his Dream Lantern a gentle pat. Its light dimmed just a little, ready to rest. Noah climbed into his own little bed, pulling his soft blanket up to his chin. The Dream Lantern sat on his bedside table, still glowing ever so softly, like a little nightlight.

Noah closed his eyes. He felt so warm, so safe, and so very, very sleepy. He knew that because he had helped everyone else have good dreams, he would have the sweetest dreams of all. And with a soft sigh, little Noah the brave bunny drifted off to sleep, a tiny smile on his face, dreaming of happy adventures under the moonlight.
