A story for: Ivy, Age 5
Created September 17, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled in a cozy little house, lived a sweet girl named Ivy. Her room was painted the softest shade of lavender, and her bed was like a fluffy cloud, just waiting for sleepy snuggles. Every night, as the sun dipped below the hills, painting the sky in oranges and pinks, Ivy would get ready for bed.
Tonight, as Mommy tucked her in, Ivy felt a tiny flutter in her tummy. It wasn't a bad flutter, just a little bit of a worried one. "Mommy," she whispered, "what if I dream something that isn't brave?"
Mommy smiled and kissed Ivy's forehead. "My brave little Ivy, your dreams are like your very own secret stories. And guess what? You are the author of every single one! You can make them as brave and as wonderful as you wish."
Ivy thought about that. An author? She liked drawing pictures, but writing stories seemed like a grown-up thing. "How do I do that?" she asked, her eyes wide with wonder.
"It's easy," Mommy explained, gently stroking Ivy's hair. "Just before you drift off, think of something happy and brave you did today. Maybe you shared your favorite toy, or perhaps you tried a new food. Every brave thing you do during the day can become a tiny seed for a brave dream at night."
Ivy snuggled deeper under her covers. She thought about her day. She had indeed shared her shiny red ball with her friend Leo at the park, even though she really, really loved that ball. And she had even tried a tiny bite of broccoli at dinner, which was a very brave green tree indeed!
The room grew darker, and the moon peeked through her window, casting soft, silvery patterns on the wall. Ivy closed her eyes. She imagined her shiny red ball, bouncing high in the air, and then, in her mind, it became a tiny, glowing planet that she, brave Ivy, was gently catching. She imagined the little piece of broccoli transforming into a tall, leafy tree in a magical forest, and she, tiny and brave, was exploring its branches.
As she pictured these things, a warm, soft feeling spread through her. Her heart felt light and happy. The little worried flutter was gone, replaced by a peaceful calm. She was the author of her dreams, and tonight, her dreams would be filled with gentle bravery and happy adventures.
The stars outside her window seemed to twinkle just for her, whispering goodnight. Ivy took a deep, sleepy breath, and as the last of her brave day's thoughts floated through her mind, she drifted off into a sweet, peaceful sleep, ready for all the wonderful stories her dreams would tell.
