A story for: Leo, Age 7
Created October 11, 2026
Leo snuggled deep under his warm covers, listening to the soft hoot of an owl outside his window. Tonight, he wasn't just in his bed; he was about to embark on a quiet adventure with the Princess of Stars.
He closed his eyes, and just like magic, he found himself floating. Not in a scary way, but in a gentle, slow drift, like a dandelion seed caught on a breeze. All around him, the night was a deep, velvet blue, sprinkled with countless, shimmering stars.
Suddenly, a gentle light appeared, growing brighter until it formed a smiling face. It was Lyra, the Princess of Stars. Her gown wasn't made of fabric, but of swirling nebulae and tiny, winking constellations. Her hair was like spun moonlight, and in her hands, she held a blanket that sparkled with all the colors of the rainbow.
“Hello, Leo,” she whispered, her voice like the soft chime of distant bells. “Are you ready for your starlight blanket tonight?”
Leo nodded, too mesmerized to speak. He watched as Lyra began to unfurl the blanket. Each corner she spread out seemed to stretch across the sky, creating new patterns of light. With every gentle shake, tiny, sleepy stars floated down, landing softly around him like warm snowflakes.
“This blanket,” Lyra explained, her voice soothing and calm, “is woven from sleepy stardust and peaceful moonbeams. It's designed to tuck you in just right, wherever you are, and fill your dreams with the quiet joy of the night.”
As the starlight blanket grew, it began to settle over Leo. It wasn't heavy at all, but felt like a soft, warm cloud. He could see through it, still watching the distant galaxies twinkle and spin. He felt a deep sense of peace wash over him, like a gentle wave on a calm ocean.
Lyra sat beside him, not really sitting, but floating gracefully. She pointed to a cluster of tiny, faint stars. “Those are the dream-weavers,” she said. “They’re busy spinning happy thoughts for everyone who sleeps under the starlight blanket.”
Leo watched the dream-weavers, feeling his eyelids grow heavy. The warmth of the blanket was so comforting, and Lyra's presence was so gentle. He felt himself sinking deeper into the soft, starry embrace.
“Sleep now, little adventurer,” Lyra whispered, her voice fading like a distant lullaby. “Let the starlight blanket keep you safe and warm until the morning sun paints the sky once more.”
Leo smiled. He closed his eyes, feeling the soft glow of the starlight blanket around him, the quiet hum of the universe his lullaby. He drifted into a sleep as deep and peaceful as the starry night itself, ready for dreams as beautiful as the Princess of Stars.
