A story for: Nora, Age 7
Created September 27, 2026
Tonight, as the stars began to twinkle, a little girl named Nora snuggled deep into her soft, blue blankets. She loved the stars more than anything. Every night, she imagined floating among them, a tiny explorer in a giant, cozy universe.
“Goodnight, little astronaut,” whispered her mom, kissing Nora’s forehead. Nora closed her eyes and, just like magic, she felt herself gently lifting, not from her bed, but from her room, past the ceiling, and up, up, up into the night sky.
She wasn't wearing a bulky spacesuit, but a comfy, fluffy pajama set that felt like a cloud. Around her, millions of stars sparkled like scattered diamonds on a velvet cloth. Nora giggled softly. It was so quiet and peaceful up here.
A friendly, sleepy-looking moon, with a gentle smile, drifted by. “Hello, Nora,” it hummed in a soft, silvery voice. “Would you like to visit my friends?”
Nora nodded eagerly. The moon led her past swirling nebulae, which were like giant, colorful paintings in space, made of soft pinks, purples, and blues. They looked like cotton candy clouds you could float right through.
Next, they glided past planets. A big, swirly red one seemed to be humming a lullaby. A ringed planet looked like it was wearing a sparkly hula-hoop, twirling slowly and gracefully. Nora waved to each one, and she imagined they waved back with a little shimmer.
Then, she saw a cluster of tiny, playful stars, no bigger than her thumb. They were twinkling in a rhythm, like little lights on a sleepy Christmas tree. One tiny star winked at her. Nora felt a warm, happy feeling spread through her.
“It’s almost time for sleepy-dust,” the moon whispered, its voice growing even softer. “The universe is getting ready for its own quiet slumber.”
Nora felt a gentle pull, a slow drift back towards her window. The stars seemed to be dimming slightly, their bright light turning into a soft glow. The colorful nebulae looked like fading dreams. She watched as the earth, her home, spun slowly, a beautiful blue marble in the vast darkness.
As she floated back into her room, she could feel her bed waiting, warm and inviting. She nestled down, pulling her blankets close. The stars outside her window still sparkled, but now they seemed to be wishing her sweet dreams.
Nora closed her eyes, feeling the gentle sway of her cosmic journey. The quiet hum of the universe was a lullaby in her ears, and with a soft sigh, she drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep, dreaming of stars and friendly moons.
