A story for: Finn, Age 6
Created July 14, 2026
Tonight, as the sun dipped down and painted the sky in sleepy shades of orange and purple, little Finn snuggled deep into his bed. He loved bedtime, especially when his imagination took him on wonderful journeys.
Tonight, Finn was an astronaut, not in a big, noisy rocket, but in his very own cozy, soft spaceship. It was made of his blanket, of course! He pressed the imaginary 'launch' button, a soft hum filled his ears (that was just the fan!), and slowly, gently, he began to float upwards.
Out his window (which was just his bedroom window, but he pretended it was a spaceship portal), Finn saw the stars twinkling. They weren't just tiny dots tonight; they were like millions of little fairy lights, strung across a giant, velvety-blue blanket. He waved to a particularly bright one, which seemed to wink back at him.
His spaceship drifted past a friendly, crescent moon, which looked like a big, happy smile in the sky. Finn imagined the moon was humming a soft lullaby, a melody that made his eyelids feel a little heavier. He saw sleepy clouds, like fluffy cotton balls, floating by, ready to turn into dream pillows for the night.
Further out, Finn saw planets, each one a different color. There was a big, swirly red one, like a giant marble, and a tiny, sparkly blue one, like a sapphire jewel. He didn't need to visit them tonight; just seeing them from his gentle spaceship was enough. They looked peaceful and quiet, just like his room.
He noticed a few shooting stars, like sparkly whispers zooming across the darkness. Finn made a wish: a wish for sweet dreams and a happy tomorrow. The shooting stars seemed to nod, promising his wish would come true.
As his spaceship continued its slow, quiet journey through the peaceful cosmos, Finn felt so warm and safe. The gentle hum of his imaginary engine, the soft glow of the distant stars, and the quiet beauty of space all wrapped around him like a cozy hug. His journey wasn't about going fast or far; it was about floating gently, watching the wonders of the universe pass by.
He yawned a big, sleepy yawn. His spaceship was now slowing down, getting ready to dock. It wasn't docking at a space station, but right back in his very own bed. The stars outside his window seemed to grow a little dimmer, as if they, too, were getting ready for sleep. Finn closed his eyes, his imaginary spaceship now perfectly still, a soft blanket around him, ready for the sweetest, most cosmic dreams.
