A story for: Theo, Age 4
Created November 04, 2026
High above the world, where the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, lived a very special dragon named Theo. Theo wasn't like the big, fiery dragons in stories. Oh no, Theo was small, with scales the color of a soft lavender flower, and his breath smelled like warm vanilla. His favorite thing to do was watch over the moon, his best friend.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the hills, Theo noticed something unusual. The moon, usually so bright and round, looked a little droopy. Its silvery glow wasn't as strong, and it seemed to be yawning, a big, wide, sleepy yawn.
Theo flew closer, his wings making a gentle, whooshing sound. "Hello, dear Moon," he whispered. "Are you feeling alright? You look a bit sleepy tonight."
The Moon sighed, a long, quiet sigh that made a few little stars wobble. "Oh, Theo," it said in a soft, sleepy voice. "I'm just so tired. It's been a very busy day, lighting up the night for everyone. I wish I could just close my eyes for a little while."
Theo’s lavender scales shimmered with an idea. "Don't you worry, Moon," he said, his voice as soft as a cloud. "I know just what to do. I will help you fall asleep."
First, Theo gathered the softest, fluffiest clouds he could find. He carefully piled them around the Moon, making a big, comfy cloud bed. The Moon snuggled into the soft clouds, a little smile appearing on its face.
Next, Theo gently fanned the Moon with his wings. Whoosh, whoosh, went his wings, creating a warm, sleepy breeze that swayed the little stars like tiny lullabies. The Moon’s eyelids started to feel heavy.
Then, Theo began to hum. It wasn't a loud hum, but a quiet, gentle tune, like the softest rustle of leaves in the night. It was a dragon lullaby, made just for sleepy moons. He hummed about fluffy clouds, and twinkling stars, and how everyone needed a good night's rest.
The Moon listened to Theo's soft humming. Its glow became softer and softer, like a lamp turning down low. Its round face looked peaceful, and its eyes slowly, slowly closed. The Moon was finally asleep, tucked into its cloud bed, dreaming sweet moon dreams.
Theo watched over his sleeping friend for a little while longer, making sure it was warm and cozy. Then, feeling very happy and a little sleepy himself, Theo curled up on a soft, nearby cloud. The stars around him twinkled softly, like they were whispering goodnight. Theo closed his own eyes, feeling safe and warm, and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of lavender clouds and happy moons.
