Remy's Starry Blanket

A story for: Remy, Age 7

Created November 01, 2026

Remy snuggled deeper into his bed, feeling as soft and warm as a freshly baked cookie. Outside his window, the last slivers of orange from the sunset were fading, making way for the deep, velvety blue of night. His room was a cozy haven, filled with the gentle glow of his little star-shaped nightlight.

He pulled his favorite blanket, the one with tiny embroidered stars that seemed to twinkle in the dim light, right up to his chin. "Hello, little stars," he whispered, tracing a finger over a particularly bright one. He imagined each star was a tiny window to a peaceful dream, just waiting for him to visit.

Remy closed his eyes for a moment, listening to the quiet house. He could hear the soft tick-tock of the grandfather clock downstairs, like a sleepy heartbeat, and the gentle rustle of leaves outside his window as a soft breeze danced through the trees. It was a symphony of sleepy sounds, lulling him into a sense of calm.

He thought about his day. He had built a magnificent tower of blocks that reached almost to the ceiling, and his mom had clapped and said it was as tall as a friendly giant. He had also helped water the little tomato plant on the kitchen windowsill, giving it a tiny drink so it could grow big and red. Good things, happy things, filled his mind like soft, fluffy clouds.

Tonight, Remy decided, he would dream of flying. Not super-fast flying, but gentle, floating flying, like a dandelion seed carried on a summer breeze. He would drift over fields of lavender that smelled like bedtime stories and glide past sleepy, smiling moons.

He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the quiet, still air of his room, and then let it out slowly, like a gentle sigh. His eyelids felt heavier, like two little sleepy butterflies resting on his cheeks. The star blanket felt like a warm hug, keeping him safe and sound.

He imagined his bed was a soft, fluffy cloud, floating gently through the quiet night sky. Each little star on his blanket began to glow a tiny bit brighter, like friendly winks from the dream world. Remy felt a soft, sleepy smile spread across his face.

His breathing became slow and steady, just like the gentle rocking of a boat on a calm lake. The star-shaped nightlight cast dancing shadows on the wall, turning his room into a magical, peaceful place. Remy snuggled deeper, feeling completely safe, completely warm, and perfectly ready for his gentle, floating dreams. With one last, soft sigh, Remy drifted off to sleep, tucked snugly under his starry blanket.
