A story for: Wren, Age 6
Created October 30, 2026
The stars twinkled like tiny diamonds sprinkled across a velvet blanket as Wren snuggled into her soft bed. "Tell me a story, Daddy," she whispered, her eyes already a little sleepy.
"Tonight," her daddy began, his voice a warm, low hum, "we'll imagine a very special dream for you, Wren. A dream where a magical unicorn comes to visit."
Wren's eyelids fluttered, imagining. In her dream, a gentle, white unicorn with a shimmering, spiral horn stepped right out of a moonbeam that streamed through her window. Its mane and tail sparkled with all the colours of the rainbow, but so soft they looked like clouds.
"Hello, Wren," the unicorn's voice chimed, like tiny bells in the wind. "My name is Lumina. Are you ready for an adventure?"
Wren, feeling very brave in her dream, nodded excitedly. Lumina bent her graceful neck, and Wren carefully climbed onto her back. Lumina's fur was as soft as a kitten's, and surprisingly warm.
With a gentle prance, Lumina stepped through the window, not falling, but floating up into the night sky! Wren gasped softly, but there was no fear, only wonder. Below them, her house looked like a tiny toy, and the trees were like little broccoli florets.
Lumina soared past fluffy white clouds that felt like cotton candy if Wren reached out her hand. They flew higher and higher, until they were among the very stars Wren had seen from her bed. The stars weren't just tiny dots up close; they were glowing, colourful spheres, some red, some blue, some sparkling gold.
"Each star is a wish," Lumina whispered, her voice a comforting melody. "And your dreams, Wren, are just like these stars – bright and full of magic."
They flew by a crescent moon, which looked like a friendly smile in the sky. Wren could almost touch its smooth, silvery surface. Lumina then began a slow, gentle descent, circling back towards Wren's window. The world below her looked peaceful and still, bathed in the soft glow of the moon.
Lumina landed as softly as a feather on Wren's bedroom floor. "Thank you, Lumina," Wren whispered, giving the unicorn a gentle hug around its silky neck. Lumina nuzzled her cheek with her soft nose, and then, as silently as she had arrived, she dissolved back into the moonbeam, leaving behind only the faintest scent of stardust and sweet dreams.
Wren snuggled deeper into her covers, a tiny smile on her face. The memory of Lumina's warm fur and the starry ride filled her heart with a peaceful calm. She closed her eyes, and as the last of her daddy's soft whispers faded, she drifted off to sleep, knowing that in her dreams, Lumina and the stars would always be waiting.
