A story for: Nora, Age 3
Created July 12, 2026
Once upon a time, far away in a cozy little house, lived a sweet girl named Nora. Nora loved to look out her window when the sun went down. She loved to see the big, dark sky begin to sparkle.
Tonight, Nora snuggled into her soft bed. Her favorite teddy bear, Barnaby, was right beside her. "Barnaby," she whispered, "the sky looks extra sparkly tonight!"
And just like magic, a tiny, twinkly star floated down to her window. It wasn't just any star; it was a special, friendly star, glowing with soft, warm light. "Hello, Nora!" the little star whispered, its voice like gentle bells. "Would you like to come on a sleepy adventure with me?"
Nora’s eyes grew wide with wonder. "Yes, please!" she giggled softly.
The friendly star blinked, and suddenly Nora felt like she was floating. She wasn't in her room anymore! She was gently drifting up, up, up, past the sleepy trees and into the big, dark sky. Barnaby held on tight.
They floated past the moon, a big, round, sleepy cookie in the sky. It winked at Nora. "Hello, moon!" Nora whispered, feeling very calm and happy. The moon smiled its softest smile.
Then, they floated past a family of planets. There was a red planet, sleeping peacefully. There was a swirly blue planet, dreaming quiet water dreams. And a stripy orange planet, snoozing soundly. Each one looked so soft and sleepy.
"Look, Barnaby!" Nora whispered, pointing to tiny, glowing dust that drifted like golden glitter. "Star dust!"
The friendly star twinkled. "It's the sleepiest dust in the whole universe," it whispered. "It helps all the stars and planets drift off to their cozy dreams."
Nora felt a warm, tingly feeling all over. The star dust seemed to wrap around her like a soft, fluffy blanket. Her eyelids felt heavy, so very heavy. She leaned her head against Barnaby.
"It's time to go home, little one," the friendly star whispered gently. "You're getting very sleepy."
Slowly, ever so slowly, Nora and Barnaby floated back down. Past the sleepy planets, past the winking moon, past the quiet trees. They drifted right back into Nora's cozy bed. The friendly star gave one last, soft twinkle and floated back up to join its friends in the sky.
Nora pulled her blanket up to her chin. The room was dark and quiet, and she felt so warm and safe. The star dust made her feel so wonderfully sleepy. She closed her eyes, dreaming of sleepy planets and winking moons, and drifted off into a long, peaceful sleep.
