A story for: Remy, Age 4
Created October 31, 2026
Once upon a time, nestled high on a gentle green hill, stood a beautiful, quiet castle. This wasn't a castle with loud knights or busy kings; it was a castle that loved to whisper. And in this special castle lived a little boy named Remy.
Remy loved his castle. Every evening, as the sun dipped low and painted the sky in soft shades of orange and pink, the castle would begin its evening whispers. Remy would put on his coziest pajamas, the ones with the little moon and stars, and get ready to listen.
Tonight, Remy snuggled into his big, soft bed. His teddy bear, Barnaby, was tucked in right beside him. Remy closed his eyes just a tiny bit, so he could still see the soft glow of his nightlight, shaped like a friendly cloud.
First, the castle whispered hello through the tall windows. It was the sound of a very gentle breeze, just a 'whoosh-whoosh' that sounded like a sleepy hug. Remy imagined the breeze tiptoeing through the turrets, saying goodnight to the last little birds nesting in the ivy.
Then, the castle whispered from the walls. It was a soft 'tap-tap-tap,' like tiny raindrops on the stones, even though it wasn't raining. Remy knew this was the castle telling stories of the day – how the sunbeams danced on the polished floors and how the flowers in the garden nodded their sleepy heads.
Next, came the floorboards, with a gentle 'creak-creak.' Not a scary creak, but a happy, tired creak, like the castle was stretching its old wooden bones before a long night's rest. Remy imagined the castle giving a big, happy yawn.
The coziest whisper of all came from his very own bed. The blankets felt extra soft, like fluffy clouds, and the pillow felt just right for his head. This whisper was a quiet 'shhh-shhh,' like his bed was telling him, "It's time to dream, little Remy."
Remy took a deep, sleepy breath. He imagined the castle closing its big, grand doors very slowly and quietly. The moon peeked through his window, a soft, silver smile in the dark sky. Barnaby felt warm and squishy beside him.
The whispers grew softer and softer, like lullabies sung by the wind. Remy's eyelids felt heavy, so very heavy. He could almost hear the stars twinkling their own sleepy song. The castle was asleep, and soon, Remy would be too.
With one last little sigh, Remy snuggled deeper into his bed, surrounded by the gentle, loving whispers of his quiet castle. He was safe, he was warm, and he was very, very sleepy. And as the last whisper drifted through his room, Remy closed his eyes and drifted off to the sweetest dreams.
