A story for: Wren, Age 3
Created September 02, 2026
Once upon a time, high above the world where the stars twinkled like tiny diamonds, lived a very special little dragon named Wren. Wren wasn't a big, fiery dragon. Oh no! Wren was small and gentle, with scales the color of a soft lavender flower, and wings that fluttered like butterfly wings. Wren loved to drift among the clouds, making them puffier and softer for sleepy dreams.
One evening, as the sun began to dip below the hills, Wren noticed something peculiar. The moon, usually so bright and round, looked a little... tired. Its glow was dim, and it yawned a very big, silent yawn that stretched across the sky.
“Oh dear,” Wren whispered. “The moon looks like it needs a good night’s sleep!”
Wren flew closer, gently circling the sleepy moon. “Hello, Mr. Moon,” Wren chirped softly. “Are you feeling sleepy tonight?”
The moon blinked slowly, its light flickering like a candle about to go out. It let out another big yawn. “Oh, little Wren,” the moon rumbled in a deep, sleepy voice. “I’ve been shining all night and all day, helping the flowers grow and lighting the path for the sleepy owls. I’m just so very, very tired.”
Wren thought for a moment. What could a little dragon do to help the big, tired moon fall asleep?
First, Wren decided to sing a lullaby. With a tiny, sweet voice, Wren hummed a tune as soft as a cloud. It was a song about gentle breezes, and quiet whispers, and fluffy sheep jumping over fences. The moon seemed to listen, its glow becoming a tiny bit softer.
Then, Wren remembered the softest clouds. Wren flew to the very fluffiest, puffiest cloud and gently nudged it closer to the moon. “Here, Mr. Moon,” Wren said. “This cloud will be a cozy pillow for your sleepy head.” The cloud settled around the moon like a soft, white blanket.
Next, Wren thought about quiet. Wren knew that sleepy things liked quiet. So, Wren flew to each star, gently reminding them to twinkle ever so softly, not too brightly, not too loudly. The stars understood and shimmered with a hushed, gentle light.
Finally, Wren snuggled close to the moon, its lavender scales casting a warm, comforting glow. Wren gently patted the moon’s side, just like a little one might pat their favorite teddy bear. “Shhh, Mr. Moon,” Wren whispered. “Sleepy time now. Rest your weary light.”
The moon’s big, round face softened. Its light grew dimmer and dimmer, until it was just a faint, peaceful glow. The moon closed its eyes, and a very gentle, quiet snore echoed through the silent sky.
Wren smiled, a happy, sleepy smile. Wren had helped the big, busy moon fall fast asleep. Feeling tired and content, Wren found a soft, fluffy cloud nearby and curled up, tucking its lavender wings around its small body. The quiet of the sleeping moon and the soft twinkle of the stars made Wren’s eyelids feel very heavy. Soon, Wren was fast asleep too, dreaming of soft clouds and gentle moonbeams.
