A story for: Wren, Age 4
Created August 27, 2026
Deep in a cozy little nook, nestled under the biggest, fluffiest dandelion puff you ever did see, lived a tiny field mouse named Wren. Wren had soft, cinnamon-colored fur and bright, curious eyes that sparkled like dewdrops in the morning sun. Tonight, as the sky turned from orange to purple to a deep, sleepy blue, Wren felt a special kind of sleepy tingle.
"It's time for the Star-Glow Forest, Wren," whispered a gentle breeze, rustling the dandelion's feathery top. Wren loved the Star-Glow Forest. It wasn't a forest with tall, green trees, but a magical place that only appeared when all the other little creatures were tucked soundly in their beds.
Carefully, Wren tiptoed out of her home. The world outside was quiet, hushed like a secret. Above, the first tiny stars began to wink, one by one. But as Wren padded softly through the tall grass, something even more wonderful began to happen. The grass blades themselves started to glow! Not with a bright, sunny glow, but with a soft, warm, shimmering light, like countless tiny fireflies had decided to take a nap right there.
Each blade of grass, each little flower petal, glowed with its own soft, star-like light. It was as if the stars had fallen from the sky and decided to visit the earth just for Wren. This was the Star-Glow Forest. Wren felt like she was swimming through a sea of gentle, sparkling lights. She saw a tiny ladybug, fast asleep on a glowing clover leaf, its little red shell catching the soft shimmer. A sleepy beetle snored softly under a dew-kissed, glowing mushroom.
With every tiny step, the light around Wren seemed to hug her, making her feel safe and warm. She watched as a particularly bright 'star-blade' of grass swayed gently, like it was humming a lullaby. Wren closed her eyes for a moment, letting the soothing, twinkling lights dance behind her eyelids. She imagined herself floating on a soft cloud made of starlight.
Her little paws felt heavy, and her eyelids felt heavier still. The Star-Glow Forest was a place for sleepy wonders, a place where dreams began to bloom. Wren found a particularly soft, glowing moss patch, warm and inviting. She curled into a tiny ball, her cinnamon fur blending with the gentle glow. The soft, rhythmic pulsing of the starry grass was like a heartbeat, a lullaby just for her.
With a happy sigh, Wren snuggled deeper into the glowing moss. The Star-Glow Forest would watch over her, its soft, warm light keeping her safe through the night. As the last tiny twinkle caught her eye, Wren’s little breaths grew slow and even, and she drifted off to sleep, dreaming of endless, gentle starlight.
