A story for: Leo, Age 7
Created July 13, 2026
Leo snuggled deep under his soft, blue blanket, his eyes wide open, sparkling like little stars themselves. Tonight, he was going on a special adventure, right from his very own bed. His toy astronaut, Captain Comet, was tucked beside him, ready for their journey.
“Are you ready, Captain Comet?” Leo whispered, his voice a soft murmur in the quiet room. Captain Comet, with his brave plastic smile, seemed to nod. Leo closed his eyes, imagining his bed slowly lifting off the floor, gently floating upwards, past the ceiling fan that looked like a slow-spinning galaxy, and out through his window.
The night sky welcomed them with a thousand twinkling lights. The moon, a friendly, silver crescent, smiled down. Leo wasn’t afraid; he knew this was a dream adventure, safe and warm. He saw planets in the distance – a swirly orange one, a calm blue one with white clouds, and a sparkly purple one that looked like it was covered in glitter.
“Which way shall we go, Captain Comet?” Leo wondered aloud. Suddenly, a little star, not too far away, began to glow a bit brighter. It pulsed softly, like a tiny heart. Leo felt a gentle pull, a comforting invitation.
His bed, still soft and cozy, drifted towards the glowing star. As they got closer, Leo noticed something wonderful. The star wasn’t just bright; it was making a sound, a soft, hushed whisper. It sounded like a lullaby, a melody made of stardust and dreams.
“It’s singing to us!” Leo breathed, his heart feeling light and peaceful. The whispers wrapped around him like a warm blanket, telling tales of quiet nebulae and sleepy comets. He saw little star-children, no bigger than fireflies, dancing in slow circles around the star, their movements as graceful as falling snowflakes.
Leo watched them, his eyelids growing heavier. The star’s gentle song filled his ears, a melody that promised sweet dreams and peaceful rest. He imagined lying on a fluffy cloud, wrapped in the star’s light, listening to its secrets. Captain Comet, beside him, seemed to be drifting off too, his plastic smile still brave, but now very, very sleepy.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Leo’s bed began to descend, floating down through the quiet night sky. The whispering star’s song grew softer, a fading echo of warmth and peace. He passed the friendly moon again, then slipped back through his window, his bed settling gently on the floor. He could still hear the star’s lullaby, a soft hum in his mind.
Leo snuggled deeper, pulling his blanket up to his chin. The star’s song was still with him, a gentle whisper in the darkness. He closed his eyes, the image of the dancing star-children and the glowing star filling his thoughts. He felt safe, loved, and very, very sleepy. With a final, soft sigh, Leo drifted off into a dream as peaceful as the whispering star.
