Ava's Cosmic Cuddle Trip

A story for: Ava, Age 5

Created October 05, 2026

Deep in the quiet night, while the moon shone like a friendly nightlight, a little girl named Ava was getting ready for a very special adventure. Ava wasn't just any little girl; she was a sleepy little astronaut, and her spaceship was her cozy bed. Tonight, she was going on a cosmic cuddle trip to visit the calmest, most peaceful planets in the whole wide universe.

First, Ava snuggled her favorite stuffed bear, Barnaby, into the co-pilot seat. “Ready, Barnaby?” she whispered, her eyes already feeling a little heavy. Barnaby gave a silent nod. With a soft hum, her bed-spaceship lifted off, floating gently past the window, past the tippy-tops of the tallest trees, and up, up, up into the twinkling, inky black.

Their first stop was the Lavender Planet. Oh, it was a beautiful sight! The whole planet was covered in soft, fluffy lavender plants, swaying ever so gently in a warm, sleepy breeze. The air smelled like the sweetest, calming perfume, like a hug from her grandma. Ava and Barnaby floated down, their little feet barely touching the soft ground. They watched tiny, sparkly fireflies dance slow circles, their lights dimming and brightening like sleepy winks. Ava yawned a big, happy yawn. “This is so peaceful, Barnaby,” she murmured, feeling her eyelids flutter.

Next, they drifted towards the Whisper-Wind Planet. This planet was made of soft, fluffy clouds, all different shades of gray and white. As they got closer, Ava could hear the most soothing sound – the gentle whoosh of the whisper-wind. It sounded like a lullaby, like her mommy humming a soft tune. She watched as fluffy cloud-sheep grazed quietly on patches of starlight. Ava snuggled deeper into her spaceship, feeling the gentle rocking of the clouds beneath them. Her body felt warm and heavy, just like Barnaby in her arms.

Their last stop was the Dreamy Dewdrop Planet. This planet was covered in giant, sparkling dewdrops, each one holding a tiny, perfect rainbow inside. They shimmered and glowed with a soft, sleepy light. Ava saw little glow-worms making paths of light across the dewdrops, like tiny, quiet parades. The air was cool and fresh, and Ava felt a soft, sleepy blanket being pulled up to her chin. She could almost taste the sweet, fresh air, and it made her want to close her eyes and dream.

Ava yawned one last, enormous yawn. Her adventure had been wonderful, full of soft sights and gentle sounds. Her spaceship, her cozy bed, began its slow, sleepy journey back home. The stars outside her window began to blur, like paint smudges on a dark canvas. As her bed-spaceship gently landed back in her room, Ava snuggled Barnaby even closer. The quiet hum of her spaceship turned into the quiet hum of her own breathing. Her eyelids finally closed, soft and heavy, and Ava drifted off to sleep, dreaming of lavender fields, whisper-winds, and shimmering dewdrops, ready for another cosmic cuddle trip tomorrow night.
