Wren's Cozy Castle Dream

A story for: Wren, Age 5

Created July 03, 2026

Once upon a time, nestled high on a gentle green hill, lived a little girl named Wren. Wren lived in a castle, but not a big, drafty, grown-up castle. Oh no, Wren's castle was small and cozy, just perfect for a little girl.

Her castle walls were painted a soft lavender, and the turrets, which were like tiny pointy hats, sparkled with pretend diamonds. Inside, Wren's room was the coziest of all. Her bed was like a cloud, piled high with fluffy blankets and pillows that felt like marshmallow. A friendly little lamp, shaped like a smiling moon, cast a warm, golden glow across the room.

Tonight, as the sun began to dip behind the furthest hills, painting the sky in sleepy shades of orange and pink, Wren was getting ready for bed. Her mommy helped her put on her favorite pajamas, which were soft blue with little white stars. Wren loved those stars because they reminded her of the ones that would soon twinkle outside her window.

After a warm bath, Wren snuggled into her cloud-bed. Mommy sat beside her and began to hum a sweet, quiet tune. Wren looked around her room. Her toy dragon, Sparkle, was curled up on a little rug, already looking very sleepy. Her soft unicorn, Glitterhoof, was tucked into a tiny blanket on a nearby chair. Everything felt safe and peaceful.

Mommy read Wren a short story about a sleepy little bear who found the perfect berry for a bedtime snack. Wren listened with her eyes half-closed, imagining the bear padding softly through the woods. When the story was done, Mommy kissed Wren's forehead. "Sweet dreams, my little princess," she whispered.

Wren closed her eyes completely. She could hear the gentle rustle of leaves outside her castle window and the soft, faraway hoot of an owl saying, "Goodnight, goodnight." The moon lamp cast its warm glow, making friendly shadows dance on the wall. She imagined herself floating on a soft cloud, drifting slowly, slowly, towards a land of wonderful dreams.

She thought about her cozy castle, safe and warm. She thought about her fluffy bed, feeling like she was sinking into the softest, warmest hug. Her breathing became slow and even. The little white stars on her pajamas seemed to twinkle just for her, guiding her into a deep, peaceful sleep. Wren was fast asleep, dreaming of lavender walls and sparkling turrets, and the softest, coziest castle in the whole wide world.
