Zoe's Cosmic Cuddles

A story for: Zoe, Age 7

Created August 03, 2026

Zoe was a very special little astronaut. Not because she was the fastest or the strongest, but because she was the best at finding sleepy planets. Every night, when the stars began to twinkle outside her window, Zoe would climb into her cozy spaceship, ‘The Dreamweaver,’ ready for a new adventure.

Tonight, Zoe felt extra sleepy. Her eyelids were starting to droop even before she pressed the ‘launch’ button, which made a soft, hummy sound. Zoom! The Dreamweaver floated gently into the inky sky, carrying Zoe past glittering nebulae and friendly, winking stars.

Her first stop was the Lavender Cloud Planet. As The Dreamweaver settled softly onto a fluffy, purple cloud, Zoe peeked out her window. Everything here was soft and pastel. Little lavender puffs drifted lazily by, smelling like the sweetest dreams. Zoe saw a family of giggling moon-bunnies hopping quietly, their paws making no sound at all. She snuggled deeper into her seat, feeling the gentle sway of the cloud beneath her.

Next, The Dreamweaver floated to the Whisper Wind Planet. This planet was covered in tall, silvery grasses that hummed the softest lullabies as the gentle breeze drifted through them. Zoe stepped out carefully, feeling the cool, soft blades tickle her ankles. She lay down for a moment, listening to the whisper-wind sing its sleepy songs. It felt like the planet itself was breathing, a slow, steady rhythm that made her yawn a big, wide yawn.

“Time for one more sleepy planet,” Zoe mumbled, her voice already thick with slumber. The Dreamweaver knew just where to go. It traveled to the Crystal Chime Planet. This planet had trees made of sparkling, rainbow-colored crystals. As The Dreamweaver landed, the crystals began to tinkle softly, like tiny wind chimes playing a gentle melody. Each chime sounded like a little ‘goodnight.’

Zoe watched the lights dance and listened to the soft, sparkling music. She saw little glow-worms making patterns in the crystal caves, their light so soft it barely chased away the shadows. Her eyes were getting heavier and heavier. The soft chimes, the whispering wind, the lavender scent – it all swirled together, making her feel so very cozy.

She yawned one last time, a truly enormous yawn that stretched her whole body. She wasn't even sure if she made it back to her spaceship seat. The Dreamweaver, knowing its little astronaut was utterly tuckered out, began its slow, gentle journey home. As Zoe drifted through the starlit sky, she imagined herself floating on a big, warm cloud, surrounded by soft whispers and the scent of lavender. She closed her eyes, and with a soft sigh, Zoe, the sleepy little astronaut, was fast asleep, dreaming of calm planets and cosmic cuddles.
