A story for: Ivy, Age 4
Created October 26, 2026
Once upon a time, in a house filled with soft, happy whispers, lived a little girl named Ivy. Ivy loved her bedroom more than anything. It was a special place, just for her, and tonight, it felt extra cozy.
First, Ivy tucked her favorite stuffed bunny, Floppy, into his tiny bed beside her. Floppy’s ears were long and soft, perfect for snuggling. “Goodnight, Floppy,” she whispered, giving his nose a gentle kiss.
Ivy looked around her room. The curtains, covered in tiny stars, were drawn, making the room feel like a warm, secret cave. Her nightlight glowed softly, painting a small, friendly moonbeam on the wall. It wasn't too bright, just enough to chase away any shadows that might try to be a bit too big.
She snuggled down under her blanket. It was a fluffy, blue blanket, like a soft cloud. When she pulled it up to her chin, it felt like being wrapped in a gentle hug. She closed her eyes for a moment and imagined she was floating on her cloud blanket, high up, but not too high, just above her bed.
She could hear the gentle tick-tock of the little clock on her dresser, a quiet, sleepy sound. Outside, she heard the soft rustle of leaves in the trees, like the trees were whispering their own sleepy secrets to the night.
Ivy took a deep breath in, imagining she was breathing in all the cozy air in her room. Then she let it out slowly, like a soft sigh. She did it again, in and out, in and out. Each breath made her feel a little warmer, a little heavier, and a little more sleepy.
Her eyelids felt like they had tiny, soft weights on them, pulling them gently down. She thought about all the lovely things in her room. Her colorful books, stacked neatly, waiting for morning stories. Her wooden blocks, dreaming of tall towers. Everything was quiet and still, just like she was becoming.
As her breathing became slower and deeper, Ivy’s cloud blanket seemed to lift her even higher. She wasn't just in her bed; she was gently floating, wrapped in softness, carried by the quiet of her room. The nightlight’s moonbeam dimmed a tiny bit, as if it knew Ivy was almost asleep.
Floppy the bunny was sound asleep beside her, his little fabric body still. Ivy’s own body felt warm and heavy and perfectly relaxed. A tiny, sleepy smile touched her lips as she drifted further and further into her cozy, soft dreams. Soon, Ivy was fast asleep, wrapped in her cloud blanket, dreaming sweet dreams in her beloved, peaceful bedroom.
