A story for: Wren, Age 4
Created October 04, 2026
Wren was a little girl with a very big imagination, especially when it came to the night sky. Every evening, as the sun dipped below the hills and painted the clouds in soft oranges and purples, Wren would stand at her window, looking up at the first twinkling stars.
Tonight, Wren’s mommy tucked her into bed. “Time for dreams, my little stargazer,” she whispered, kissing Wren’s forehead. Wren snuggled under her cozy blanket, but her eyes were still wide, watching the moonbeams dance on her wall.
Suddenly, a tiny, shimmery star winked extra bright, right outside her window. It wasn't just twinkling; it was almost… beckoning! Wren giggled softly. She imagined she was floating, light as a feather, right out her window and up, up, up into the big, dark, gentle sky.
She wasn't cold, not at all. A warm, friendly glow surrounded her. All around her, stars sparkled like diamonds tossed across a velvet cloth. Some were tiny pinpricks of light, and others were big, bright lanterns, humming soft lullabies.
“Hello, little one,” a gentle, twinkly voice seemed to whisper from a nearby star. Wren wasn’t scared; it felt like a hug made of light. She floated past planets, big and round, some swirly with colorful clouds, others quiet and rocky. They spun slowly, like sleepy tops, never making a sound, just glowing peacefully.
Wren saw a comet, a long, sparkly tail trailing behind it like a ribbon in the wind. It waved a friendly goodbye as it swooshed past. She waved back with her imaginary hand.
Everything in space was so calm and quiet. The only sounds were the soft hum of the stars and the gentle whoosh of Wren floating along. She felt so safe and loved, surrounded by all the beautiful lights of the universe. The vastness of space felt like a warm, comforting blanket, tucked around her.
She saw a galaxy, swirling slowly like milk in a cup, full of so many stars she couldn't count them all. Each one was a tiny, sleeping light, waiting for morning.
Wren yawned a big, sleepy yawn. All this floating and seeing beautiful things made her very, very tired. The stars began to dim ever so slightly, their lullabies growing softer and sweeter. The planets looked like cozy, glowing pillows, inviting her to rest.
Slowly, gently, Wren drifted back down, past the sleepy moon, past her window, and right back into her warm bed. She snuggled deeper under her blanket, feeling the soft glow of the stars still inside her heart. The hum of the universe became the quiet sound of her own breathing. Her eyelids felt heavy, heavy like tiny clouds. She closed her eyes, a peaceful smile on her face, and drifted into a deep, starry sleep.
