A story for: Wren, Age 3
Created September 16, 2026
Deep in a cozy little burrow, snuggled under a soft moss blanket, lived a tiny mouse named Wren.
Wren loved the night. She loved the quiet, the cool air, and most of all, she loved the stars. But tonight, the stars seemed to be calling her, twinkling a special invitation. "Come play with us!" they seemed to whisper.
Very carefully, Wren peeked out of her burrow. The moon was a big, round, friendly face in the sky, and the trees around her home seemed to sparkle. It wasn't just the moon making them glow tonight! The forest floor was dotted with tiny, soft lights, like little fireflies had decided to stay up late.
"Oh!" Wren squeaked softly, her whiskers twitching with wonder. "It's the Starry Forest!"
Tonight, the forest wasn't dark at all. Every leaf seemed to hold a tiny, shimmering speck of light. The blades of grass glowed softly, like a million tiny green lanterns. Even the little pebbles on the path sparkled like jewels. It was a magical forest of stars!
Wren tiptoed out, her little paws making no sound on the glowing path. She saw a big, old oak tree, and its branches were draped with long, glowing vines, like necklaces of starlight. She scampered up the trunk, her tiny claws finding perfect holds. Up and up she went, until she was nestled among the glowing leaves.
From her perch, Wren could see the entire Starry Forest. It was like a giant, soft, glowing blanket spread over everything. The air hummed with a gentle, sleepy sparkle. She watched as a little moth with wings like velvet fluttered past, its own wings catching the light and making it glow for a moment.
Down below, a family of sleepy crickets sang their lullaby, "Chirp, chirp, sleep tight, chirp, chirp, goodnight."
Wren yawned a tiny mouse yawn. The soft light made her feel warm and safe. She leaned her head against a glowing leaf. It felt like a little pillow made of starlight. The gentle hum of the glowing forest, the soft cricket song, and the friendly moon in the sky all worked together to make her eyelids feel very, very heavy.
She imagined herself floating among the stars, soft and warm. Her breathing became slow and steady. One last little sparkle caught her eye, then another, and another, until all the stars in the forest and in the sky began to blur into a soft, sleepy glow. Wren closed her eyes, completely surrounded by the gentle magic of the Starry Forest, and drifted off into a peaceful sleep, dreaming of shimmering leaves and soft, warm starlight.
