A story for: Sage, Age 6
Created September 13, 2026
Deep in the Whispering Woods, where the moss was extra soft and the flowers smelled like honey, lived a tiny mouse named Sage. Sage had soft, grey fur and whiskers that twitched with curiosity. But Sage wasn't just any mouse; Sage loved the stars.
Every night, when the moon peeked over the tallest trees, Sage would scamper out of his cozy burrow. He wouldn't go far, just to a special clearing where the branches intertwined like a lacy roof. And tonight, Sage felt a pull, a gentle hum, leading him deeper into the woods than usual.
"Squeak?" he whispered, his little nose sniffing the cool night air. The path grew brighter, not from the moon, but from something sparkling on the ground. As Sage rounded a bend, his eyes, like tiny beads, widened in wonder.
He had found it – the Starry Forest! Not trees of wood and leaves, but trees made of light. Tall, shimmering stalks pulsed with a soft, warm glow, like captured starlight. Tiny, glowing berries hung from delicate branches, humming a soft, lullaby tune. The air itself seemed to sparkle, filled with the gentle magic of a thousand tiny lights.
Sage tiptoed among the luminous trees, his heart filled with a quiet joy. He saw little fireflies dancing around the glowing branches, their own lights adding to the magical scene. He saw sleeping ladybugs tucked into the curves of the light-stalks, dreaming of sweet dew drops.
He found a particularly beautiful spot, under a tree that glowed in soft shades of blue and purple. Its light felt warm and comforting, like a soft blanket. Sage snuggled down into the velvety moss, watching the gentle pulse of the lights. Each twinkle seemed to whisper a secret, a soft, sleepy secret just for him.
The Starry Forest hummed a lullaby, a silent song of peace and tranquility. Sage felt his eyelids grow heavy. The soft, shifting light danced behind his eyes, painting pictures of happy dreams. He imagined himself floating on a cloud of stardust, gently rocking with the rhythm of the universe.
A gentle yawn escaped his tiny mouth. The soft glow wrapped around him, a warm embrace. Sage closed his eyes, feeling safe and loved in his magical, glowing forest. As the last twinkle faded from his sight, he drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep, dreaming of starlight and soft, whispered secrets, his little chest rising and falling with the quiet breath of the night.
