A story for: Wren, Age 6
Created September 18, 2026
Tonight, as the moon peeked shyly from behind the clouds, little Wren snuggled deep under her cozy quilt. She loved bedtime, especially when she got to close her eyes and imagine wonderful adventures.
Tonight, Wren wasn't just in her bed; she was in her very own, super-duper, fluffy cloud-rocket! It wasn't loud or rumbling like a real rocket. Oh no, Wren's cloud-rocket was soft and gentle, floating silently upwards, past the tippy-top of her house, past the tallest trees, and even past the fluffy white clouds that looked like giant cotton balls.
Her cloud-rocket was made of the softest, warmest moonlight, and it smelled faintly of lavender and happy dreams. Wren looked out her cloud-window, and oh, what a sight! The sky, which was usually just dark, was now sparkling with millions and millions of tiny, winking stars. Each one was like a little diamond sprinkled across a velvet blanket.
She saw the Big Dipper, looking just like a giant spoon ready for a spoonful of stardust. And there was the Little Dipper, her tiny friend, twinkling cheerfully nearby. Wren giggled softly, imagining what kind of soup a star-spoon would hold. Maybe glitter soup? Or rainbow soup?
As her cloud-rocket drifted deeper into space, Wren spotted a friendly planet. It wasn't red or bumpy, but a soft, glowing blue, like a giant, peaceful marble. She imagined little rivers of calm, quiet water flowing over its surface, and gentle breezes whispering lullabies to tiny, glowing flowers.
Suddenly, a shower of shooting stars zipped by, not fast and fiery, but slow and graceful, like sleepy goldfish swimming through the dark ocean of space. They left trails of shimmery, silver dust, which gently settled on Wren's cloud-rocket, making it sparkle even more.
She felt so safe and cozy, tucked into her cloud-rocket. The stars seemed to be singing a quiet, hummy song, and the blue planet glowed like a nightlight. Wren’s eyelids felt heavy, heavier than fluffy clouds. She yawned a little yawn, a sleepy, star-dusty yawn.
The cloud-rocket began to drift slowly, slowly, downwards, back towards her window, back towards her bed. The stars whispered goodnight, and the moon winked one last sleepy wink. Wren closed her eyes, feeling the soft bumps of her quilt and the familiar fluff of her pillow. She wasn't just in her bed anymore; she was still floating among the stars, her heart full of peaceful, starry dreams. Goodnight, little Wren.
